Re: Bottom Seal on BRANDT D/W

A split in the bottom spray arm is a very common cause of this fault, the water floods out.

Picked up my van stock today. Had a couple of customer queries, one OOB and one about setting Quick Wash, both resolved on the phone. 8)

Part not expensive, very common fault, available from here http://tinyurl.com/j3lac

Plug removed at all times when working on the machine. :zap:

First two lights flashing suggests a drain problem, could be blocked or jammed drain pump. Power off if you intend to investigate further.

NB. Don’t attempt to unblock by forcing water back into the machine.

The best way is to live in a super soft water area like I do then you don’t have this problem. I would think that trying to scrape a tube heater, given how poor the Indesit ones are in the first place, is only delaying the inevitable. 😥

This machine has the heater in a tube assembly, how do you manage to scrape these clean, ❓ 😉

I always remove the whole console, and the metal backplate, only takes a couple of minutes and makes the drum removal much easier.

Re: second LED from left flashing Hotpoint IDI60

    Hi Sue,
2nd led suggests a fill valve fault. Has the tap been turned off for some reason, is the fill hose kinked, is water coming out of the fill hose? As this is an integrated machine you may need to pull it out to check fully. Could be a faulty fill valve but the only way to test that is with the proper electrical test equipment. The electronics on these Indesit machines are known to be a bit unreliable.

Please remove the mains plug if you intend to proceed further.

    Jim.

Very kind of you to let us know the outcome. Remember to have the machine looked at if the fault returns and avoid 3 in 1 or 4 in 1 tablets.

    Re: Hotpoint DF61 Stops halfway!!!

Could be a timer, a heater fault would not stop the machine dead although a faulty valve and blockages in certain areas could. Timer is around £70.00 + vat so with labour should still be a viable repair compared to replacing it with another Hotpoint, which is now an Indesit under the skin 😥 .

You would have to pay around £300 upwards to get the same quality.

Still worth getting it checked out before you stick a timer in that isn’t needed IMHO.

    Re: Hotpoint DF61 Stops halfway!!!

No access whatsoever from underneath. This machine is controlled by an electro mechanical timer as opposed to electronic controls that are now the norm so no error codes are shown. Access is very difficult on this machine, major components such as the circulation pump etc require the removal of the inner stainless steel cabinet. It should be well worth having repaired but I would strongly advise getting it looked at by someone with the correct technical information.

Re: Hotpoint WMA44 Aquarius Extra Out of balance sensor

It is not possible to disable this function, there isn’t a ‘sensor’ as such, it relies on the control module sensing the variation in the load on the motor. The fault could lie in the motor or the control module. both fairly expensive. Best advice is to see if we have a local engineer in your area who can run the required diagnostics checks.

Also worth noting that if the machine is under 5 years old then it is covered by a manufacturers parts guarantee.

A strong possibilty as you have just replaced the drum is a dodgy contact somewhere.

That is as specific as the manual gets. No doubt we will all learn from your experience. 😉
