Re: Hotpoint Ultima AL01 error code

πŸ™‚ AL01 is the error code for flooded base. If so then your machine will more than likely be leaking into the base. If you gently tilt the machine to one side and water leaks out then this is the case. You will need to find and cure the leak. Click on the link in my sig if you need help.

Make sure to remove the plug before attempting any repair or inspection.

Point taken Martin, I do take particular care not to scan and post direct, and often do a little prΓ©cis on the text as well. πŸ˜‰

As this is more of a ‘test’ procedure I have copied it into here. it is also to be found in error codes thread, will dig out a few more when the time allows. πŸ˜‰

Hotpoint WMA 30/40/50 Last Error detected codes

Ensure that the main selector switch is in the Off or O position.

Press and hold the Super Rinse and Rinse Hold buttons whilst selecting H on the selector knob, and continue to hold for five seconds.

The ‘Super Rinse’, ‘Rinse Hold’ and ‘Wash’ LED’s will now be flashing.

Press the Start/Cancel button for two seconds.

The ‘Rinse Hold’ LED will be lit and the ‘Super Rinse’ LED will be flashing.
The ‘Final Spin’ LED could be on or off at this stage.

Press the Rinse Hold button briefly.

The ‘Rinse Hold’ LED will be flashing & the ‘Super Rinse’ LED will be on steady to indicate the last error routine has been initiated.

Rotate the main programme selector knob slowly anti-clockwise to programme A

Slowly rotate the selector switch clockwise through four positions A to D inclusive, pausing briefly at each programme position. Starting with A make a note of the ‘Final Spin’ LED status. it will be on or off.

When the selector knob reaches D you will have a series of Ons and Offs . This 4 bit binary code should be recorded and checked against the error codes in the following table.

    ……………………………………………………..A………..B………….C………..D

    No spin due to O.O.B……………………….on………off………..off………off

Start butt pressed with door open…….off……….on…………off……..off
    or O/C interlock.

Failure to fill in allotted time……………..on……….on……….off……….off

Failure to pump out in time allowed……off………off………on……….off

    No feedback from thermistor when……off………on……….on………off
    heating.

    Tacho error…………………………………….on……..on……….on………..off

    No feedback from tacho…………………..off……….off………off……….on
    Motor O/C

    Motor triac short circuit…………………….on……….off……….off……….on

That was a bit of a pain to get lined up but I hope someone may find it useful.

    Re: LG Washer dryers

There is one truth that is absolute in the current domestic appliance market, YOU ONLY GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.
20 years ago, a good, basic washing machine without a dryer would have cost you Β£300 upwards. The basic technology apart from the control mechanisms is the same. the only reason why you have Β£200 washers and Β£350 washer/dryers in the shops is first by reducing production costs, and then, and this applies in most cases by reducing the quality by using cheaper components and materials. You then finish up with todays situation, a two to five year disposable product. My personal advice is pay the little extra for the Bosch, a better investment than any LG.

If you remove the bulb and take it to any local independant electrical retailer they should stock these fairly standard 15W bulbs. Much cheaper than from the manufacturer.

    Re: Creda TCR2

May be worth having a quick read of this , if your machine has the pulleys at the front of the drum then this kit also includes a rear bearing, there is no mention on Partfinder of a modified rear bearing shaft.

Apparently the back panel has also been modified but should come under the original part number of 1703017, list Β£31.19 ex vat. It includes a thicker rear seal.
The aforementioned bearing & pulley kit is part No: 1703273, list Β£18.54 ex vat.
There is also a modified rear heater cover panel inc heater and stats to prevent the fan fouling the back cover, part No: 1703075, list Β£28.66 ex vat.
In other words if you completely rebuild this machine with all the mods, it might run with less noise. Or they could buy a decent dryer. πŸ˜₯

johnnyj is at the moment a Hotpoint/Indesit engineer. Unfortunately none of this equipment or software is available to the independant trade but there are some people working on a solution. πŸ˜‰

That is a question that only you can answer, not a technically difficult job, but then I have done many hundreds of them πŸ˜‰ and practise makes perfect. No specialist tools required but you have to remove the front panel, I can say no more than that, please be sure to remove the plug before proceeding further.

Did you find a hole in the seal?

Re: Creda Sensair Tumble Dryer not detecting dry clothes

There is a slight problem with parts ID for that model. It is listed as a Currys exclusive 1994/1996. however the parts ID show two different drums, the later drum is after date code 53 which is May 1998.??

Also on the diagram of the two drums, for the later model it does not show the sensor etc and for the earlier model it shows all the parts connected with the sensing operation but they are not in the parts list. The parts ID software from the Indesit company is known to be riddled with anomolies. Having said that, there is only one sensor that I can see, so your problem will more than likely lie elswhere.
What is the date code ( the first two numbers of the serial number) of your dryer?

Re: Creda Sensair Tumble Dryer not detecting dry clothes

Model number would be a big help. πŸ˜‰
The drying on one of this type of machine is controlled by a fairly expensive electronic module. It senses a small current fed through the clothes and measures the increase in resistance as the clothes dry. there are three thermostats to control overall temperature and prevent overheating etc. There are no separate ‘sensors’ for high or low heat.
There are at least three variants called Sensair. The older models use a completely different system.

Parts just arrived, thanks folks.
Quick question, just opened the box, there is no motor wiring harness and no spade terminals on the new motor, is it necessary to cut the lead off the old motor and re solder to the connections on new one?

Are you sure about that model number, cannot see it on Partfinder?

Is it a washer dryer WD420G?
