How come? Don’t they pay you on completion? 😕
About 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} pay on completion. 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} I leave a bill and they send a cheque – usually they’ve left me a key to get in so I know I can trust them. I almost never ask for cheque guarantee cards because most people seem, and indeed are, genuine. I’ve had slow payers in the past but that’s generally holiday cottage cleaning companies who have cash flow problems. One recent non-payer (young teenage girls sharing a flat) claimed to have no money in the house, partner was out with chequebook, said they’d send a cheque and so on. Another paid me with a cheque in my trading name and I don’t have a business account so I sent it back and that was three months ago. I might go the small claims route on that one but I don’t like using my time that way and anyway I’m sure it’s because they’ve hit hard times. The last one, I didn’t have any invoices with me and I wrote the bill out on a bit of paper with my address then forgot about it because there was no carbon copy. Discovered it when writing up my accounts couple of months later. Will have to call at the door to remind them because got no name. :boops:
Maybe I’m too trusting but 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the folks round here are worthy of that trust and it’s a pain having to apply new rules because of the very few rogues.

Re: Hotpoint WMA30 control module ic blown why???????????

Have a search around the RS site http://www.rswww.com and become a customer. Free next day delivery (DHL) on everything. I have ordered a special battery at 95p and it comes next day no carriage charge whatsoever. Grab it while it lasts. They have an humungous range of items and if you can’t see what you want just call or e-mail for proper technical help.
You can also find out about unusual components by just putting the numbers off it into Google and finding hits in electronics forums. Great way to learn.
Another tip: Read all Andy2’s posts!

Check the two big ceramic resistors near one end of the module.

Re: Hotpoint WD62P pressure switch hunts following fill.

Had same once on one of their washers I was reconning. Took a restrictor out of an old one and fitted it. That cured it. I think it had probably been omitted during manufacture but owner hadn’t realised there was anything wrong.

    Re: hotpoint WD860

I’m sure you’ve checked that water is available at a suitable pressure although you didn’t specifically say so. What makes me suspect something in that area (perhaps an intermittent blockage in tap?) is that you had two o/c coils. I have a theory that coils go o/c due to overheating when filling is taking too long due to low pressure.

On the other hand it does rather sound as though no juice is getting out from the timer?/module? to start things up. So maybe the valves took something down when they went? Does EMW do a replacement?

    Re: bosch electrical smell

I think there’s a kind of tab inside those holders like the one you have to release on the old Hotpoints. You can feel the resistance as you push in the new brush but it releases (the brush goes past it) once fully in. If you pull the brush out again you can see the imprint along the side. I sometimes do the same as neptune and scratch a little groove in it with the point of a knife.

The other day I took apart a bad sparker, I think it was same model as this thread, and completely cleaned the motor inside out, even to the point of cleaning the commutator gaps out with the edges of cardboard strips. Worked a treat after that.

    Re: Ariston 11600WD

Sometimes the best approach with intermittents is to swap the cheapest suspect part and see if it works. (Informing the customer of your startegy obviously). Would suggest valve coil first. If dryer timer is electronic, call EMW for a board.

    Re: Hotpoint WM75 (E14)

I use a 12v doorbell battery (x2 for 24v) combined with a low volts test lamp to test relays on the bench. Sometimes fiddly getting the croc clips to grip onto solder joints though. Open up an old one to learn which pin’s which or look on RS for spec sheets.

Had one same. New board cured it, though sort of never sure that it wasn’t just loose connections. Holiday cottage it was so price no object.

Solenoid coil on dryer valve seems particularly unreliable, can go o/c and shut down when warm.

    Re: Bosch WFL2463GB/?? Motor re-assembly.

    Thanks for the reply Chris.
Turned out to be an edge of the plastic insulating sheet between the field coil and laminations had risen and was rubbing on the armature. I held it down with a bit of epoxy putty and all is well again. Cleaned commutator with comm stick and brushed out all the carbon dust and motor runs like new.

Some LG’s have strange size pulley bolts. Take your complete socket set.
