Definitely sounds like overheating. Depending on age it may be a straightforward thermostat as opposed to an ntc. Has she tried / is it possible to select a rinse only or cold wash programme?

I think Phidom went off to Hungary a couple of months ago, Tom and has not been seen here since. You could try a pm.

AFAIK, triacs are usually in neutral side. So it would be worth a look at the board, if the aquast..pita is OK.

Who says it’s heating? Are you taking the customer’s word for that, over the phone? :rolls:
Another possible that springs to mind is siphoning. But that would be less likely.
If neither of those then there’s only timer, unless someone else has any other ideas.
Is it one of those old Servis machines?

Normally Whirlpool code is 7 flashes for faulty flow meter so if checking / replacing it doesn’t work, you could try looking at this threadhttp://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/forumsphpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=64457 and pm me if you need further info.
The symptom is different but I have a suspicion the fault may be the same.

Not time to look into it just now but I cannot believe that the difference between two components, both labelled MAC97A8, would be at all significant at the level we’re talking about. If it was, there would be boards blowing up all over the plan….
    mmmmmmm………Hang on a minute, maybe you’ve hit on something…. 😆

One motor on fire instantly. Bit of a tense moment, it was. 😆

Re: hoover WMD130-80 no motor action

Maybe pump is going down and it’s trying to spin full of water or there’s an intermittent blockage? As for module/motor, downstream component almost always damages upstream one not vice versa.

My God, things must be tough going up there, wherever you guys are!
MAC97 Qty 1 @ 46p + vat including g’teed next day delivery. OK you need to open an account. It takes a few minutes and maybe you have to give them your card details. They never hassle you for more business by phone – I spend about £30 a year and all I get is an occasional email which I just delete like the Tesco ones. How can you run a shop and still have time to desolder 50p components?

    Re: bosch sgs46e12gb/73

I think the thing you are referring to is the flow meter or as Bosch call it, “impellor jug”. It is likely the problem is caused by this and the best way to find out is to swap it out. Use search facility with those terms and you’ll no doubt find out much more. On the other hand only bother with that if you have already tried clearing any gunge from the ribbed tube going from the fill matrix to the sump. You can do this in a diagnostic way by repeatedly shoving a 12″ cable tie in and out of it from the sump end accessible from inside with the filters / screens removed.

Those machines are a complete waste of time. Saw that customer in the street the other day. The Kitchen Co. (Howdens) had supplied a replacement, FOC I believe, (the woman is not the sort who’s easy to argue with) and now that’s gone wrong.

Well, in the end, I got the motor off ebay anyway (£30 incl.) and went round and fitted it last Weds. 2 days before delivery of new m/c due. Works a treat now. Left her a note to say I’d take remuneration if she decided to keep machine or find her a customer for it otherwise.
She was reluctant to upset the apple cart by cancelling the new machine at such a late stage but changed her mind when they rang her on the morning of the appointed delivery day and told her machine had got damaged in transit and would be another week/10 days to get another one! 😀
Anyway, I’ve now taken out a photobucket account so let’s see how this goes……..
The brushes are not broken; they’ve just been forced back into their holders and the brass holders have got their edges bent over.

Only if you’re not giving them the best deal 😉 . They might think cheaper is better but they’ll be sorry in the end.

Re: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?

When I have a customer who doesn’t pay for that long ( and there is one) she gets a reluctant and long delayed response to calls for help in the future. Another good reason to avoid answering the phone personally.

Complete and absolute pig of a job. Just have to throw your best drill bits at it. (Titanium? Cobalt?) Don’t think there’s much room to get a grinder in. Think Hotpoint WM series fixing bolts will fit but you have to widen out the holes by a mil or so. Did one years ago and it went again about a year later 👿 .
