Bosch eshop is down for maintenance till 29th. Looks like it may have the “iron cross”. Did something like it on a Bosch washer a long time back. Wasn’t too bad but can’t actually remember too much about it. Usual problem of course is unbolting the cross (torx IIRC) and then manouvering it out through the back – don’t recall having to take drum out of cabinet, but not sure.

Well this link has a picture with all dimensions so maybe you can get something to match.

Good work gandh1. That is what I call on the ball! Answering before question is asked. You could save us all a lot of time if you can keep that up. 😆

Makes sense to try one before condemning pcb or motor.
Must say I’ve never understood what can go wrong with one of those motors. I suppose they could overheat if overloaded and the insulation burn a bit between coils.

My customers pay for all my holidays. There’s little point in my working more than I need to keep my head above water. There’s no investment I know of which is paying significantly above inflation.

I shall pay more attention to what customers are turfing out of their drawers when I send them off to search for the manual in future.

ParticipantRe: wf101 tripping
Er.. my reply would have been the same for pretty much any model. As for door lock, it would seem sensible to try it, they are a bit prone to fail. Heater element would also not be beyond suspicion, given mid-programme aspect. Could even be something going on at module (water?/mouse?/big black spider?).
What happens on a spin only with motor connected?

That’s why I suggested looking for abraded loom.

Unfortunately, I think some bidders think they are going to get a shiny old twin tub.
Like them, we may be in for a disappointment. Wait and see what happens before flooding ebay with your cash in the attic discoveries. 😆
Mike.
Edit: Just had a look at his completed listings – scrub last comment, back to the attic! In fact, one of the bidders on this one has an opening bid on this.leavemetogetonwithit
ParticipantRe: wf101 tripping
Still, the fact that the thing started up when it was disconnected suggests strongly that that’s where the problem is.
E-bay is a good source for secondhand Hotpoint motors 😉 .
Probably because they get taken off all those scrapped sealed drum machines and pcb failures.
Or it could be abraded wiring loom.

Me: “Okay, and you’ve made sure the door is firmly closed?”
Her: “No, the door is open.”
Me: “Okay… well, that isn’t really a fault. It’s the machine telling you to close the door before the cycle can start.”
Her: “Well, I don’t see why I can’t start the cycle then close the door when I want, not when the machine wants me to.”
Me: “Okaaaaay… well, I’m afraid I can’t redesign the machine and this isn’t really the sort of fault that would be covered by your guarantee.”
Her: “Oh, another fault conveniently not covered. Your guarantee doesn’t seem to cover any faults. Well, I still want an engineer out to confirm this is how it’s meant to be, because I’m sure it’s not right.”
Me: “I can come out but you need to understand if the machine starts fine with the door closed, then you’ll still be charged a call out charge.”
Her: “A call out charge! When I have a machine under guarantee? *rant rant rant*”:rolls: I still have nightmares that she’s going to call again one day!

Try disconnecting heater element. Better still, plug in an alternative one and see if thing starts OK. Better still, check heater element with megger to see if below 40 megohms. Ditto motor. Other possible is try pulling off p/sw hose. Otherwise, likely pcb.

What did the megger say to the motor? In case of no megger available, what did multimeter on highest ohms range say between earth and motor terminals? Although that would be much less certain to expose a fault than a megger.
