Think EMW probably cover that module. First take a look at it for burnt / dry joint relay leg, if not that give them a ring.

Or something to do with a p/sw telling machine it’s still got water in.

ParticipantRe: hotpoint wma 42p drum seal issues
Have very seldom fitted a new tub seal to anything. Always give the old one a clean, pop it back in, then top up with a bead of silicone. Only with the early Hotpoints with their tubular type seals did I resort to fitting new ones (when they were a couple of quid) as it saved time. It’s best to fit the old seal back, then add the gunk, otherwise air can get trapped.
If you look at the mating faces of that tub in your pic, you’ll realise there’s a kind of chamfer and the seal has to fit close to that surface with the narrow edge facing towards you (IIRC, short term memory not what it was).
The way you’ve got it in the pic, it’s never gonna seal.

ParticipantRe: Bsh SGV53E13GB/01 flow meter symptoms.
New impellor jug did the trick.
I blew through it before fitting and compared it side by side in that respect with the old one. It was definitely quieter, though still not that happy working dry. So it looks to me that the bearing in these things could affect their performance though I’m not sure how, since the water is still going to turn it – I can’t see that it could be jamming totally. Next time I will try and remember to try knocking down the water flow rate and see if that makes a difference as in this case pressure was very high.
Hope this doesn’t mean the end of just fitting a new reed switch.

Would have been better if he could have got it to play some well known classical piece. Maybe Holst’s Mars, from the Planets.

These cases are often to do with low insulation somewhere in the machine. As this is only a washer (is it not?) then favourite is motor – look for condensation on brush holders causing insulation at 500v to drop below 40 Meg.

The switch will come with an instruction sheet.
If this start switch, of which you write, is of the non-latching type (i.e. you push it and it doesn’t stay in) then it probably operates a relay. The problem could be with the relay.

Environmental stuff I really could go on and, on and, on about. I really would bore you to death.
That’s improbable but we all will die of something anyway. 🙂kwatt wrote:It’s also true to say that people, in our world at least, are earning more so can afford to buy more of that “stuff”.
So more buying power, lower costs = greater consumption.
Greater consumption = more waste.
More waste = more harm to the environment.
How you frame all that and explain it is, to me at least, interesting.
But my argument has been and remains, that more consumption is far, far more damaging than saving a couple of kwh per annum.
K.
That is not inevitable. Everything has a lifespan. In nature lifespans range from a day (typical bacterial cell) to several millenia (certain coppiced trees). Yet nothing is ever wasted. I think it possible that we will learn from that.Mike.

I used Connect’s mediator system to find out what you are talking about. It gave the list of models shown above. I tried the middle one first but that didn’t show a start switch, so I tried the top one which did. I therefore assume that different serial numbers have different parts fitted. If you’ve got an account at Connect, log in and look at this page and you will see a picture of the switch I looked at. If that is the one you are dealing with, click on the picture and you will have a new window opens showing two pictures, one of which shows the wiring sheet.
fasetester wrote:if wiring is ok why would you have to change wiring.
Because original part has been replaced by a different one requiring a modification.
fasetester wrote:my neice said she had to keep pressing the start button. then it stopped working. when you press the switch should you not have contuinty across both sets of terminals. their is no circuit across the back ones.
Possibly,I don’t know for sure, but usually these big WHP American dryers have a circuit diagram tucked into them somewhere around the timer area, IIRC.
fasetester wrote:how do i remove the sw
If it has a knob, try pulling the knob off. Then you should be able to see what’s holding it to the panel. I don’t know this particular model you are working on so there may be some hidden way of getting the knob off, perhaps a pop-off cap like on old Zanussi washers? Or a grub screw in the side?
fasetester wrote:and do i need that serial no becide the dryer mod no to get the right switch. thanks fase.
I am almost certain that you do.

Which is exactly what Rosling is good at. He uses modern graphics to bring statistics to LIFE. His lectures (well the two I’ve seen so far anyway) are just mesmerising. And inspiring. They make you think. They stimulate your own ideas.

ParticipantRe: whirpool dryer awz650
Scrub that. I think you must mean the first in that list or thereabouts. Click on Connect’s picture to enlarge it and it becomes apparent there’s a complicated instruction sheet with the part.

Don’t think those start switches are a common fault.

Think the switch is held to the front panel by plastic lugs/flexible bits. Should be visible once knob is pulled off.
Slip a long socket over the spindle to push them in.
