Re: Hotpoint WD420 Mains suppressor caught fire

Have seen this on an Ariston. Seem to remember there was some sort of vent (?) hole about 5mm, in dryer alu ducting. Can’t remember if I decided to block it. But whatever I did, not been called back.

Hmm Just browsing through his feedback.
806890386 Genuine Smeg fan ele £14.99 incl VAT (& carriage 3-5 days)
    Masterpart £25. (2 for £14.49) + VAT
    Does seem we’ve been had.
Though, as I’ve said many times, I’ve been getting cheap and good elements via ebay for years now.
Just search for the one I want, select from drop down menu, “list in order of price incl carriage lowest” (or words to that effect) & take my pick.

Quite surprised to see a Candy last that long under such, uh, duress. Quite a respectable performance I’d say.

in reply to: Tecnik TKD 795/4 dishwasher Drain pump #344639

Re: Tecnik TKD 795/4 dishwasher Drain pump

Siemens, Bosch, they’re all the same aren’t they? Only slight doubt I have is that the part I gave you there is for 795/3 but it’s probs just the same. Have you seen the old pump? Does it look different from the one I gave you above?
Alternatively, I’d think the thing should have a proper Siemens e-nr on it somewhere. Espares.co.uk will show you (or the customer) where to look for that with specific instructions for Tecnik. With that you can search the Siemens e-shop which is like the Bosch one.

Re: Tecnik TKD 795/4 dishwasher Drain pump

If it is the Bosch then you need 423048 (TKD795/3).
Mpt do a pattn for £11.
If it’s a Whirlpool, then any old three screw job should fit; though check for toc.

Connect used to do one but they’ve made it obsolete 🙁 .
Qualtex specify QUAPMP245 for this model which is about £140 less than the genuine 😀 .

    Re: Ariston a1636 Washing Machine

Mpt special order too. Even at £14 I wouldn’t risk that without opening up the old one to check. Have never had one go. Would have thought EMW would have suggested it if it was likely. You sure it’s not just a dodgy knob, which has been pulled off then forced back on the wrong way? Or a loose connector somewhere?

    in reply to: Connect #342870

    Re: Connect

It does pay to shop around, there’s no doubt about that. I looked up price for an old style three tag Zan lock (FLS1183W) today. It was somewhere around £27 at big C but about £5/£6 at Mpt. and all over e-bay for about a tenner delivered. I suppose Connect is just so big they haven’t got time to worry about some of their prices being wildly out of synch. But it does mean you can come a real cropper if you don’t do your homework.

in reply to: AEG Lavamat 16830 dryer Problem #344668

Re: AEG Lavamat 16830 dryer Problem

Yup. May not go o/c until it’s been running for 10 mins, then revert to OK on cooling. That’s what usually happens. I wonder if it’s the restricted water flow offering less cooling hence coil overheating.

There was a rumour going round at some point that if you turned one off during spin it was enough to kill it.
