    If you open the freezer door can you see ice forming on the back wall if so poss. fan hitting ice? Has door been left open?

    How long does the compressor run? Is it just a few seconds if so sounds like Relay or run windings faulty or if running constantly system blocked or gas leak probably a job for the profresnals not DIY im afraid

    Hotpoint Part Number is 282040 which fits both models you quoted

    new one to me all hotpoint error codes start with “E”

    This a common fault fan element going down to earth and tripping electrics poss fan not running correctly (not fast enough) and element overheating

    All our hotpoint Error codes start with E and E1 is Freezer Thermistor open circuit

    It shouldn’t, wire is probably on wrong terminal on stat when the thermostat cycles on and off does the compressor turn off as well if so wait till Hotpoint come out

    Yes your correct the thermostat is incorrectly wired don’t attempt to do this yourself if its under guarantee leave it to Hotpoint

    Hi Steve

    I used to work on these machines for Zanussi do the clothes come out hot and steamy
    This used to be a common fault the condensing spray plate which we used to call a fish tail (because of the shape of it) blocks up with lime scale and the water spray directly on to the clothes you either (remove the drum from the tub and clean it) don’t want to that! Or we used to run descaler down the hose from the inlet valve end via a spray kill container which worked wonders, The spray kill container was part of our van stock or you tell the customer that the parts are obsolete

    Its easy when you have been doing this job for the last 30 odd years
    yes easy job but remember to turn off that cooker switch before starting
