Catches a few out this. As above go with the one shot.

Replace and fin the cause of failure. Air flow blockage, filters, motor capacitor.

Re: Top or bottom, you decide.

Iv done it once with a sump on a Indesit as I just could not get it to stay in place before fitting the large ring that holds it on, I put washing machines on these side all the time to change suspension.

But as per the other thread there is no technical reason a fully drained dishwasher can’t be put on its head. Obviously a washer or drier its a whole kettle of fish but I know that some dishwashers are built upside down at the factory so what’s the difference.

These days with the low voltage pressure switches they don’t like any water and Iv learnt the hard way to disconnect the hose before tipping anyway on the newer Indesit EOS models. (Don’t tip right with out disconnecting trust me)

At the end of the day an engineer needs to do what ever they feel is required to complete the job.

Correct ppe and floor covering and your sorted.

Re: Moral Dilemma…What would you do?

If all the water has been fully drained out then you can turn it what ever way you want, yes iv seen problems with water entering pressure switches but I all ways remove the hose before tipping anyway these days, slamming the bloke for turning it on its head is just petty and TBH bitchy and I just don’t see the need for it in the forum, might make you feel better though a guess.

Some people on here really have a attitude problem, The same thing could have happened by tipping it back or side on.

The fact is a foreign object has been introduced into the machine by some one else, its bad luck it moved and the damage happened when you were working on it but its not of your doing.

Regardless if a friend or not I would not be covering it from my pocket. If I was a friend of mine I’d explain the situation and offer to again replace the part for cost or source a used or recon part. They should understand.

Just really bad luck from the seems of It

Standard FF model. Make sure no warnings on the lights as if its thawed and caused a warning it won’t automatically re freeze.

If not get the multi flow of and have a look what’s going on, make sure it been on and not turned off as you need to see it in action so to speak.

There can be any number of issues with FF models.

If the evaporator has frozen over or a large block of ice in the gutter its likely de frost heater or blocked drain hole.

Check all the heaters and the thermal fuse with the resistance meter, you can measure these from the plug behind the multiflow. The gutter heater is foamed in so to test that measure the resistance on the pins in the socket that the plug came from, its the same two pins that the evap heater uses as they are in parallel

If no frost and the compressor is running it will be a system issue. But I have to admit I don’t see many FF with gas issues.

    Almost always frost on evaporator

Have you checked those pressure switches. Most older timer based units the heater power goes through the pressure switch to prevent meltdown when no water in.

Can you explain your earth fault again as the way I read it was you tested from the earth on the heater to the metal cabinet ?

Re: Fitting a belt on a TCM580 Hotpoint Tumble dryer

It goes around the motor and pulley, remove the fan cover and the fan blade removing the spring clip with pliers.

Slide the fan off the shaft, it can stick and need some force but not to much.
Next remove the bolt on the pulley that’s closest to you, and loosen the rear bolt, this should Allow you to release the pulley wheel and tilt it back

Then once the belt is around the drum get it passed the plastic bottom plastic panel so it sits around grooves in the motor shaft, now pull the pulley foward to it meets the belt and get it back to love into the motor via its clip and refit the front bolt, then tighten the rear and rebuild.

Funny I had a display board on the 3 knob board ending in 616 doing strange stuff this week. Could not start or stop program’s,turn on or anything.

I also went for the bottom board first but it ended being the top one.

    Re: Hotpoint WML560 tripping out.

That fault is different. That was causes by the module trying to use the half field and full field on the motor at the same time, this would result in the motor com destroying its self and the brushes. Would normally occur with in the first few months of use.

That was resolved by reprogramming the board but more often or not a new board was needed.

Seeing the age of this machine and assuming its been in use for for over a year with out it destroying its self if just go with the motor.

    Re: Hotpoint WML560 tripping out.

Is this the 1600 brushed motor ? Iv seen this quote a few times, none recently though most were 2010 machines , i believed at first it was caused by carbon buildup around the brushes and causing the spark to track to earth, however I have also had to change the motor on occasion to resolve it.

If the motor is clean and no buildup if replace it

Re: hotpoint ctd00 belt keeps snapin

I find one these once disturbed they can take some tweaking to get to settle and tune fine again.

If a new belt is snapping its normally due to the drum seizing and the belt burns on the motor, when you did the rear bearing you may need to add a washer or two on the shaft to keep the drum forward enough to stay on the front bearings. Also if the rear seal is worn it won’t hold the drum forward enough to keep it on.

I had one two weeks ago that took 4 visits to get rite.
