Wouldn’t be surprised at all if you find it all bunged up with horrible greasy fat originating from a meat rich diet. Pressure switch or safety valve taking ages to reset to empty due to constricted arteries, er I mean tubing.

    Are you a vegetarian Mike ? 🙂

cheers for responses guys, strange one indeed, but thats ‘lux group stuff these days 🙁 No circ pump on this fella so it rules that out, the right solly coil( looking from the front of machine) is the one thats coming on ok, runs for a few secs but isnt feeding central part of soap disp, so powder remains. Left valve should be doing this but no mains volts present at all when i put meter to its feed 😕

Interesting point about condensation probs causing havoc on these things Mike, it is indeed in a very grotty home made looking extension to the house, damp mould creeping up the walls.. & its been P*SSING down here in last few days.. hmmm.. maybe a return trip with the wifeys hair dryer will do the trick 😉

Returned to this thing yesterday, took the panel off & tapped each relay with the handle of a screwdriver, also tweaked up the edge connectors.
Bloody things going fine now! Im sure it wont last as my suspicion is a relay rather than edge connectors but thought i’d share the tip 🙂

Well done for fixing the appliance LJDomestics but, Wow parts and labour for £40!, seems a bit cheap to me.

Don’t forget boselecta, Lee is ‘upt north’ and ‘they does it for nowt or less up theer!’ We don’t know we’is born down in the softy south, handed on a plate for us down here! 🙂

Still not sure how that works Martin 😕 I mean, i know general income is higher in the home counties & this is reflected in what the trades can charge ; in fact my sis who lives in Herts has paid for me to fly down from Inverness several times over the years for plumbing jobs, rather than use local labour! 8O.mind you, she pays me bugger all.
Anyway, like i say im not sure how this translates to our game, surely if you push it on price the customer is just as likely to prefer to replace than repair whether they’re in Aviemore or Amersham?

Leaving damp washing sitting in the drum without starting the machine can cause severe condensation on the ele assembly & tripping i have found.

I have customers with titles who are real gentlemen and ladies, even had a cup of coffee made for me by a Lord.
The real pain in the ars8s are the so called middle class that have got themselves there through fair means or foul, usually the latter, Merc in the driveway and nowt in the fridge :rolls: oh and don’t forget the blond gold digger if you need to see a right bit8h

Thats so true.. the country pile with triple barrel name types are usually great customers, half a dozen springer spaniels running riot, horsey gear strewn all over over the kitchen floor, you can make as much mess as you want! just like i behave at home.

If its any comfort phidom, i think ive went through an almost identical series of events at least ten times in the last few years. When i find the carnage caused by these bloody people running their machines for MONTHS with duff bearings (or “just a few washes” according to them :rolls: ) i feel like screaming in their ear ARE YOU BLOODY DEAF??!!

    Thats not allowed unfortunately 🙁

Anyway, there’ll always be something else to repair and always people who are scared to touch anything they don’t understand inside out.
    Mike.

I agree, we engineers could do with simplification on many makes, the return to open bases on dishwashers has been a godsend IMO,( open once you remove the steel plate that is)
We might loose a few more jobs to determined fiddlers, but TBH, those types i can do without anyway.
Had a job on Monday where a very brave soul set about changing the element on her fan oven.. left it switched on “so i could see what i was doing with the help of the interior light” 😯 luckily didnt kill herself but blew the selector sw & a TOC to smithereens, greatly complicating the job.

Nah, i prefer the punters who are scared to even open the filter on the washer, much less hassle 😉

I actually feel sorry for people who are that materialistic, worshiping their posessions like gods :rolls: I mean we all like to get nice things once in a while, but as lee8 said, kitchens are designed to be USED! whats the bloody point in getting it if you dont?
Oh yes, i remember now, for people like that its for showing off to their friends & adding 25k to the value of ones house dont ya know :rolls:

    Re: can i sell bulbs!

Was listening to the tail end of a phone in on radio 2 today on the subject of the phasing out of incandescent bulbs.. most callers seemed hostile to the idea.
It wasnt so much that they were misty eyed about the imminent demise of the filament bulb, more that they just could’nt get on with CFL’s.
I can kinda understand that argument, have bought quite a few compact fluorescent bulbs that were really crap, but the current Philips ones are absolutely fine IMO.

Its likely LED’s will be the next thing in low energy illumination, less than half the consumption of CFL’s & 100,000 hours life.
NOT much good to those making part of their living from selling bulbs i’ll admit, but we really do have to try to offset our ever increasing energy consumption . All the more juice left over to run the 60″ plasmas & colossal fridge/freezers i see in a lot of 3 bed semis :rolls:

Seems that most makers are still fitting splittable tubs higher up their ranges, i do hope they continue. Maybe their margins are so tight on the entry level models they need to save every penny on the hidden stuff.
Would be sad if the bearing job died out totally cos its potentially a nice wee earner. Mind you, i only do about one a week now.. changed days 🙁

Dunno if i’ve posted about the type i encountered today ( and many other days :rolls: ) the pocket change man. It is always a man, stands in close proximity, hands in pockets, watching your every move in silence, save for the regular jangling of the aformentioned coins every 12 seconds.. precisely. :rolls:

    I find that annoying i do 😯

Re: scrappage scheme …..for white goods…!!!!

I think the slight flaw in the BRC’s comparison with the car scrappage scheme is the simple fact that cars in general have probably never been as well built as they are now, a life of 12 or more years should be a breeze for the humblest of cars these days.

So on balance that brand new Kia the old biddy swapped her skanky old Fiesta for might just make sense from an environmental viewpoint, what with its advanced emission control systems & much lower Co2 output, it is likely to remain a useful product for a decade or more.
Imagine she does the same with her 20 odd year old Washcraft Zanussi, the nice sales excecutive at Comet sets her up with the modern equivalent.. oh dear :rolls: 3 year lifespan now on lux group stuff in my experience.

Its all about money of course, always will be in a capitalist society, but i just wish the BRC would drop the greenwash & call a spade a spade. :rolls:
