    Try this….

FIRST TURN OFF THE POWER, then tip your machine backwards about 45 degrees to check to see if the base is flooded? (have a towel handy to mop up in case!).

Stand it upright, switch on and start the m/c, after a few seconds stop the machine and carry out the ‘reset’ procedure and let it turn off by itself (after 60 secs usually).

It should now work OK after that, if not? then try our repairs@ service to get an expert in!

squadman wrote:I wonder what the implications of this are and what they may be should something happen ?

The implications of misinformed and ill conceived advise over using such a device in this extremely dangerous state is totally irresponsible at the very least. Suffice to say that under no circumstances whatsoever should a glass doored oven be used when its door has failed in any way (including faulty glass, hinges or seals).

If the owner/user countermands this advise it would be wise to document any warnings you have given and get them to sign to that effect, so at least you are in the clear 😉

P.S I have moved this post from the public forum by the way 🙂

    Clash,

If you use the search facility on the subject of Zanussi bearings you will so enough find plenty written on the subject.

In summary though, it could be a costly repair depending on the severity of wear already taken place within 🙁

I’m sorry I brought up this subject now as I suspect that UKW forums by this time next year (if not sooner?) will be plastered in “Moved” everywhere!

    Ah well! 🙄

Meanwhile DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES use the oven in that state. It cannot be used without the correct glass in place AT ALL!!! 😥

    Merry Christmas! 🙂

Well my friend at Trading Standards did in fact email me today and here is a copy of his statement:-

    Hi Martin,

I have finally had a response from Indesit, via my colleagues in Peterborough, regarding the issue you raised.
Apparently the matter was referred back to Italy for investigation and the Company now accept that there was a technical breach of the Regulations .
Modifications have subsequently been made to the design and the issue has now been corrected on current production.
Discussions have also taken place regarding existing m/cs with this fault.
The Company have advised us that this was not a safety critical fault as when the dishwasher door is opened all power to the accessible exposed wiring is ,in fact, cut off and therefore there is no risk of electrocution to the user.
The only part that remains live is the microswitch which activates the overflow sensor switch and this only powered at 5 volts.
Given that this information is correct ( and please let me know if you disagree) we are therefore of the opinion that no recall or remedial program is necessary as there is a negligible risk of injury.
I therefore intend to leave the matter at this point and I am grateful to you for bringing it to our attention.

    Best regards Rick.

Does anyone have any further comments to make on the issue I wonder?

    Peter,

I believe it means the water supply is at fault (tap turned off? Hose kinked?)……..check that first before having it fixed under guarantee 😉

That’s what we have to do to get the bearing sleeve out. A liberal dose of WD40 followed by a sharp tipped cold chisel and lump hammer!

    Enjoy!

2 possiblilties, either the main bearings have gone or there is a coin or other foreign body caught between the 2 drums. Both are bad news 🙁

(With the belt off, is the drum noisy when you turn it by hand I wonder)

    Power off before investigating :zap:

2 screws at the back, 1 at the front (RHS I think?) and lift the lid from the rear to unhook from front panel and away 😉

The Martindale Buzz-it (BZ600) is the tool that’s perfect for testing any machine you find is either hard wired or you are unable to access the wall socket for whatever reason. 😀

Loop Testing is all well and good but way over the top for many of us it this business. A ‘spark’ has to use one of course but for us to simply stuff a new element into an oven or fiddle with the pump on an integrated dishwasher then just Buzz-it and be done. 😉

Loop Testing was part of a certain Trade Association’s ‘quality criteria’ at one time but even that was abused and ignored by many of it’s members. Some companies even had job dockets and invoices printed with little boxes their engineers could tick to show what readings were taken at the time. It was obligitory for every engineer to tick the boxes on completion, but that didn’t necessarily mean they actually got the loop tester out of the van though?
