I would like to think that what may be obvious to some of us will to others be regarded as another good trade tip 😉

ParticipantRe: Carbon brushes for Bosch WFK5730GB
I have not tried the Maddocks (12-BS-02) carbons yet but I did have an issue with the Parts Center (Invicta Brand) issue a while back as their’s being about as good as a chocolate teapot!
They are listed as Bin no: 022643 and you may notice still in the ‘comments’ section under that Bin no, that they quote…. ” this has been put on ‘restricted’ as stock may be wrong!”…….
“Wrong???”…total “cr*p” was my comment!!!!!
Over a 12 month period (2002/3) I fitted 14 pairs of these carbons and of that lot I had 9 recalls 👿 . And since that time I have reverted back to fitting the genuine (096331) Motor End Housing/Brush Unit with no problems.
Another case for me where genuine parts proved best 😉

Yes indeed aarnold, but sadly for legal reasons cannot elaborate further. As I am an engineer qualified to do such a repair and with great respect, cannot make the same assumption as to your capabilities. Needless to say, I did give you some clues as to how to access your machine. Furthermore I would advise contacting a local repairer in your area to get it sorted with the minimum of fuss and expenditure, simply click here:-Repairs@

I guess you mean the felt seal around the front end of the drum? If so they are fairly easy to do for a compentant engineer. It involves taking the rear cabinet half off etc etc.

The card is called a BIT100 so the 2 options mentioned are (I would think?) firstly for a free standing 45-60cm D/w or for a “Vanishing” model (I guess that’s the lousy Italian translation for “Integrated”???)

Tim,
It’s not a DIY job as it involves cleaning out the Manifold Unit to cure. I would recommend calling out an engineer. We may have one in your area. Find out here:Repairs@

Unless the bottom door seal is perished and the rubber gets slightly kinked up and therefore doesn’t seat fully on the tub, there is no point in replacing them for door leaks, it won’t solve your problem!
The usual reason the machine leaks from the door at each end is because either the bottom spray arm is not located properly (i.e the spigot not clipped fully onto the spray arm body) or that the float switch is bunged up and it overfills (doesn’t need to overfill by much either to leak)

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint Aquarius 1100 not draining
Sure bet its either the pump jammed or the sump trap clogged 😉

It may help to know that as you look at the machine from behind, the cold hose fits of the RIGHT HAND hose coupling. We’re all agreed with the diagnosis…over to you!

Your machine has 4 adjustable feet that can be raised or lowered to compensate for any uneven floor deficiencies. It is important that once the correct positioning of each foot has been established, its locking nut is firmly tightened. In my experience, very often those locking nuts are overlooked and therefore not tightened at all!

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint always cool wash
On reading jwt’s first post on the subject, I don’t believe there is anthing wrong with his machine 😕
If the heater were at fault the machine would not complete the wash cycle. It would just stick on the main wash all day long instead. If therefore it completes a full wash cycle (wash, rinse, spin) there’s not problem to solve!

ParticipantRe: What model of wasing machine do I have ?
gm3suz,
Ah a Radio Ham from Port Glasgow eh? Well Dan that machine is pretty old right now but parts are still available (we can supply on this site by the way).
The Control Module (Part No: 1661816 – about £70) is available but first I guess you had better check that the motor brushes have’nt just worn out or maybe the water level (air bell) on the back of the drum hasn’t just got clogged up with crud?
Check it out and get back to me with more detail OK?
