    Re: 10 – Drumming

I’ve had one doing this and bitumin sheets cured it (after a quick look on here and seeing what chris had done). When cust reported noisy i thought “yeah right” then when i got there and she put it on, wow loud!

These have a small rear cooling fan on the motor which just pushes on and was a common problem for the rubber to perish and it drops off and the fan motor over heats and cuts out just as you discribe (connects no for blade is 5031682153123)

    Hi

The Thin white wires go on the silver coloured terminals on the t/stat the thicker wires (Grey i think) go on the more gold coloured terminals one of which follows on to the heater and that leaves one (usually black) wire to the other side of the heater

    Hope this helps

    Re: Free Estimate.

    Hi

All our customers get told on the phone when they book the call we have a call out charge which if they go ahead with the repair becomes your labour charge for the job completed so all you pay after that is parts and people and it works. I (with help from kingswood dave 😉 ) have been working on all our trade customers to stop the free est and c/o and gradually they have and not looked back wishing they had done it years ago. Only one guy that i know of near us does free estimates and he’s no busier as a result either. The way i see it is if you TAKE your car to a garage to get looked at then you pay for diagnosis? Yes? But you took your car to them! So if you travel to a place to do your diagnosis how/why do that for free? When you work out cost per job then when you loose a job because you don’t do free est then i just think it’s saved a wasted journey and a loss of X amount. Three of those in a day and big chunk of profit gone.

If your good at something don’t do it for free unless it’s for charity

    Re: AEG induction hob.

    Hi

I know it sounds daft but are they using the right pans? We get people who move into a house with an induction hob and have never used one before ringing us as they wont work (as they have normal pans), Lights up but just flashes.

I’ve had same problem with fluff on fan and noticed the inner door seal was missing which lets air by-pass the filter alltogether and block the fan. It’s most likely got tugged off when loading and unloading.

Re: who to work for now

    Hi

Write to every property letting agent in the phone book and get leaflets printed (do plenty tho 3-5k)and go delivering then see what comes. It’s suprising how many letting agents arn’t realy happy with who they use but don’t know who else to ring then your letter arrives and bingo! Leaflets are the same, annoying to people who don’t need it but great for people with the dishwasher thats been gone for ages or that funny noise on the washer they’ve never got round to doing anything about as they didn’t know who to ring. Plus the people you do work for just give them a ring and ask if all is well you could say you want to add a post code to your area or your just checking what area you cover for them as an intro?

    Hope some of this helps

First step is see what tables cust is using and what wash cycle, Some cheap ones you have to use two tables and the longest wash to get a good result! The 500-in-one tables need long cycles too i’ve found but fairy ones seem ok whatever the prog. Other than that see the spray arms are in good order, could be stalling?

    Hi

If it’s noisy when washing the rotor my be worn it’s a twist fit once you got the filter out of the way just turn anticlockwise and pull it out if the blades are damaged (on the inside end)you will see it easily. If its not too bad you can trim the bits that catch, if not replace it. You can swop it with the rotor from the top tray also just to test and see if that stops the noise.

    Sorry for late reply
