That’s your problem. Best to move the washing machine to the kitchen, to keep the wife where she belongs. 😉

alf_uckem wrote:thanks for that chris.
what sort of container is it that you use and how do you pump it out?
are the container and the pump supplied by the diesel firm?
finally, is the fuel economy affected?thanks again.
Hi,I believe the containers are IBCs? Big 1,000 litre ones with a cage around them. We pay a deposit for it (I believe £30).
The pump I put together myself with various scrap bits I had lying around, but my mate uses a cheap siphon pump he got off eBay which fills his Merc tank in about 5 mins. It’s easier with my venturi-nozzle as it clicks off like a normal pump, but to be honest it’s hardly difficult with the siphon pump, just need to keep an ear out as the tank fills up.
Fuel economy-wise, it’s much the same as diesel. I always get 500 miles give or take from a tank, depending on how heavy my foot is :).

ParticipantRe: Ariston A1400SWD leaking, help needed
It shouldn’t have water in it when it spins at the end of each rinse. Probably draining slowly – check filter, drain hose, sump.

Yep, buy it in bulk (1000litres) at 80p per litre inc. delivery from Mitch at Distanza fuels in Derbyshire – 07523 393324.
Have a big 1000 litre container in the corner of the workshop and pump in to the van as required – with the amount we all use I save thousands a year.
Works fine in my 2002 Vauxhall Combo and my mate uses it in his 2010 Merc Sprinter – courier so loads of miles and it copes fine. I do change my oil every 10k instead of 20k though as apparently bio thins it over time.

It’s 2kW so if you have it on full for an hour, it will cost you two units of electric – probably about 25p.

Have you checked the counterweights and suspension? More chance of it being these than motor I’d imagine.

Check the model number. Report back then. Hotpoint machine have varied so much in the last ten years, although checking the filter would be a good start.

Took out board and it’s really badly burnt at the bottom corner at the front of the machine, extending across the tracks to the top. Meggered usual suspects (heater, motor both fine), interlock locked shut.Classic case of customer going away without switching off the washer. Interlock starts to cook and blows the module. Your mentioned “fused tripped” but I guess you meant RCD?
Diagnosis = Interlock and Module at best, BER at worst.
Cheers Martin. Much appreciated and very interesting to know why – I naively never realised this was why it happened.January 11, 2011 at 12:05 am in reply to: Whirlpool AWM1400 washer will not start, fill or spin. #340057odom

No problem, glad it sorted it for you :).

ParticipantRe: building in an ISE AW23
If you get a wide enough work surface you can put the machine in a cupboard and have a pseudo-integrated machine – just make sure the plinth is done in a separate section so that you, or your repairer, can access it easily.
Seen this done many time and in many ways I think it’s preferable to integrated as you rarely want to change a washing machine and kitchen at the same time – this way it saves all the hassle of fitting a new integrated machine into an old kitchen in the future.

The models are out of date but the advice remains the same – just search for the updated versions.

ParticipantRe: Hoover Optima fault
Error 3 is a drain fault – specifically that the machine is taking longer than the allowed 4mins 30secs to drain the water..
You need to check the filter, pump, drain hose and sump to ensure they’re all clear and working correctly.
If everything is draining correctly then unplug the machine and check the heater element with a megger if you have access to one, if the insulation fails this will also give E03 – or give Hoover a call if it’s still in warranty.

neon_3SP_glow wrote:Seen the LG PCB’s? They lacquer the whole lot in about 5mm of glue!!!
Soldering iron cuts through it nicely though 🙂
They really are a pain though – makes inspecting and testing the board very difficult, which is what I suspect LG want, so you just buy new boards from them. Thankfully see very few LGs around here.
