If you email admin@amicaservice.co.uk they might be able to post you a hard copy – they were giving them out at the WTA meeting.

Good / Bad?What are the latest prices & models.
I spoke to Swift a few months back but never did order any as I was getting Hoover in at a good price. This months Hoover deals aren’t so great for me.
Good – they’re very competitively prices and easy to sell with the two year warranty above Indesit, Beko and other brands in this price point.Bad – I’m still a bit sceptical about reliability, especially of the AWCN (Polish) models. Boards seem to go down on them for no reason. AWP (Chinese) models are basically the same as the Matsui etc. being sold but the parts inside are of a higher standard, e.g. decent pulley etc. Still some cost cutting, e.g. very thin door seals, but then for £140 what can you expect?
The AWCNs are much more engineer friendly. Two screws removes the front panel and you have great access to brushes, pump. Lid off and the board just clips into place, 5 min job to change. Parts prices even out of warranty are very reasonable albeit from UKW so you have to pay postage on orders.
Overall, they remind me of the Hotpoint WMs. Reliable enough for the customer to like, but cheap and easy to service when they go wrong. Definitely good for me. I still recommend Bosch for families but couples and OAPs I recommend Amica. Much better than Hoover in my opinion.

Yep, removed brushes (so easy on the AWCTs), brushes seemed fine, shiny right across the surface and no blue/purple overheating on the armature. Machine has been very lightly used so only a few mm worn down after 18 months. When I cleaned the comm arcing was immediately much better, just very slight sparking at the brush tips themselves, as you’d expect.
Thanks for your reply though,.

Can you move the washing machine at all if you hold it by the top and move it back and forth? If so, the legs might need to be adjusted to ensure they’re making good contact with the floor. Use the locking nuts above the feet to ensure they don’t move.
If the machine is stable it could be a number of things, call ISE and use your warranty to get it sorted :).

ParticipantRe: how far do you go
Had one customer like this. Went out twice to NFF both times with arguments about paying so we let her off. After that told her she would need to pay call out up front by card, which we would refund if covered by guarantee. Received one rude letter saying she would be contacting TS, her solicitor, etc. etc. and that was it.
They’re not pleasant but you have to be firm with these people, they’re used to bullying to get their own way, once you stand up to them they’ll move onto the next company.

Turn the drum slowly and tap around the edge of the pulley with a hammer to release it.

ParticipantRe: Texting from a pc
We use Txtlocal – a bit cheaper than Fasttexts (4.9p per credit inc VAT from 100 credits). Works really well, firstly as others have said because all texts show as from “Ox Domestic”, so they can’t text back, but also because of the ability to send texts automatically in the future.
We have it linked to our booking software so all customers get a reminder text at 7am in the morning of their appointment. Means we almost never have a customer not in.

Or just ask the post office for a free certificate of posting.
I’ve been to a couple of death trap washing machines in tenanted properties where I’ve cut the plug off, to prevent it being used.

R.e. screw see this thread.
http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … inium+heatR.e. suspension legs leave them attached, remove the pins, not the legs themselves. You need to depress the tab at the “front” of the machine (e.g. facing away from you) then lever them out. I find long bent-nosed pliers work best for this – but they can be a pig and are cheap to replace if you need to.

Standard ‘Lux case, tub out, split, new bearings in. Only difficult bit is getting the two top springs hung from the chassis afterwards. If you don’t have a second person to help you I use a car jack to push the tub up.
Exploded view of the tub is here: –

Firstly, stop trying to use the machine – you can cause irreversible damage to the motor.
You need to check the motor brushes, they’re probably worn out and need replacing. Remove the motor from the machine, they’re mounted at the “front” of the motor.

Great big plastic thing running from top to bottom of machine. Dead easy to spot it once you’re inside the machine, not least because it will be full of black fluff :).

You need to clean out the condensor at the back of the machine which will be filled with fluff.
Be very careful with the part as they’re obsolete so breaking it will be an expensive mistake. Also, use Debor or a similar adhesive or replace the O-rings when refitting the condensor, as they are a pain for leaking otherwise.

ParticipantRe: zanussi zwd1471s torx pulley screw removal
I just use a normal rachet handle with a T50 socket. Put a big spanner in through the pulley at 3 o’clock position into the plastic slots at the back of the tub, to stop the pulley wheel moving.
Put the rachet at the 9 o’clock position and hit the end a few times hard with a heavy mallet, making sure you hold the socket in position as it’s easy to burr the bolt otherwise. Once the bolt has moved 20 degrees or so it will easily move the rest by hand.
Never used heat and have done hundreds of bearing changes like this. I think heat would be counterproductive as the bolt would heat up much quicker than the drum shaft, making removal a pain.
