    Re: LG Washer Wont Heat?

You need to use a multimeter or, if you have one, a megger, to get the resistance for the heater and thermostat and report these back to us.

Both are, relatively speaking, easy to replace – although getting hold of spares for this model can be a bit of a struggle.

Alternatively if you’re not confident doing this call out an engineer who will be able to access the diagnostics and tell you in a couple of minutes what the problem is.

Thanks for chasing up van stock but in the meantime, at the WTA meeting there was talk of doing a “kit” with the ten most used Amica parts for about £80 – did anything come of this? Would be good to get a few first time fixes if possible!

    Re: Testing Pump with multimeter.

Why don’t you meter the pressure switch instead and see what resistance you get there?

Almost certainly analogic pressure switch at fault or blockage in pressure tube/chamber though.

Faulty component leaking to earth. Heater would be a good place to start – test with a megger if you have one. If not try running a cold wash and see if it still trips.

I personally wouldn’t be promoting a product that will reduce the jobs I’m getting.

I always advise on maintenance washes blah, blah, blah. But nothing of

    It’s this

Personally I’ve found that people only deal with blockages when it stops draining altogether, e.g. coin or bra wire in filter. Likewise with door seals, even if they’re absolutely disgusting unless they’re leaking people don’t care about changing them.

I don’t think Affresh would cure either of those things – but even if it did, I’d still do it because it’s much easier to get jobs on machines that last, even if you get fewer jobs overall, than getting no jobs on throwaway Indesits etc. that are just replaced.

Did you meter the NTC? What resistance were you getting?

Have you checked continuity of wires from NTC to PCB?

In that case your own machine has just gotta be a Hotpoint……..right???? 😈
Pretty much so, I just buy a new Hotpoint, Indesit or Candy every month when the old one explodes 😉

Exactly so. I had someone very similar complain about me to the council because I park my van on my land outside my house – she said that it was in her way because she used by land to swing into her driveway.

Then she complained about being disturbed by the “constant noise of spinning washing machines”… aside from the fact my workshop is a mile down the road and I only have MY washing machine at my house!

Most of my neighbours are very good and I try and help them out – clear filters for free, only charge nominal fee for other jobs – in return they take in packages for me and everyone’s happy.

Then one day this miserable woman called me cause hot valve OC on her Bosch – “no problem” I said, “it’ll be £70 for a new valve and fitting”. “Oh, I thought you did a good price for your neighbours”, she said. “No, I do good prices for those who are neighbourly” I said. She still paid .

Bosch springs fit in them perfectly.

Gave up when I had one to fit after 45 minutes of *almost* getting the bloody thing together 🙂

Re: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?

Went to one customer today who was insistent over the phone that his machine wasn’t spinning because his door seal had gone and he “didn’t want anything else, just the door seal” because he’d already “checked” the machine. I queried door seal = no spin, but got told that he’d already checked on the interweb and so knew far better than me :rolls:

Got there, Candy washing machine upside down on the floor from his attempts at “changing” the door seal. Machine just had suds lock as was VERY soapy, but suspension had come off and smashed filter housing. Put suspension back on, new filter housing and didn’t have to change one of those bloody Candy door seals – happy days.

Matey boy tried to haggle at the end by offering £20 because “I’d only been there 20 minutes”. Trying to explain to him how lucky he was that the PCB wasn’t smashed as well didn’t go down well 😆

    So, no idea.

The customer does know that it won’t be covered by warranty don’t they?

    K.

The whole flat had reversed polarity! Thought it must be a fault with my tester plug at first 😆

Landlord is paying and they are none-too-pleased, but to be honest serves them right for hiring such a shoddy electrician in the first place.

Why didn’t the engineer replace the element for you?

Because of intermittent fault using multimeter you need to first check continuity of heater (even if it’s new it could be duff), wiring and stats. Make sure there are no chafed wires. Report back what you find and we can help you from there.

    Re: aeg 72630 update – fixable ?

What sort of noise does it make, e.g. filling noise? Rumbling noise from drum? etc.

What happens after it stops, e.g. does the machine show the cycle had ended, does it go blank, etc?

We really need a few more details 🙂
