Yes, the SEME ones are good. The Electruepart and Homespares ones I’ve bought lately have had a flimsy spade adapter which crumples up as soon as you try to fit it. Quite annoying as I bought 50 sets of Homespares 4165 to get a better price. 😥

Sorry, I misread the bit about the tub seal. 😳 I never bother renewing these, i just use silicone on the old one but if anything that should bring the drum further back rather than forward, although most of it gets squeezed out anyway.

Once I’d done a rinse & spin it seemed free enough so the machine is now back with the customer. It was not down to the bearing seal thickness as the bronze bush did not fully penetrate the seal. The shaft surfaces looked very good but the rear bearing was a bit loose in its housing so I stuck it in with loctite.

Andy, I suggest you email: accounts@wolseley.co.uk and ask for your new account number, which you can then take to the website: http://www.partscenter.co.uk/hrpc/default.html and register there. Just tried the Washvac site and it still works for me, just as well as I’ve not been able to get my registration accepted at the partscenter one.

I had my letter with the new account number today. I also received a parcel from Washvac yesterday but the paperwork had the HRPC logo.

I ordered 2 off ARM20 armatures last week from Crum & Sons and was sent genuine 161498B ones. I don’t know if that was just Crums sending what they have to hand or if Qualtex are supplying gen. items as ARM20. ❓

The new capacitor cured the fault so I did not fit a new £120 fan motor. In the end we glued part of a grommet to the casing on the fan side as there was not enough clearance on the motor side for a normal grommet. 8)

Have a look on the Connect website at PMP3561, see if it looks like the right one. 🙂

If you have the space it’s worth hanging onto a few knackered motors to rob such bits when you need them. I’ve always done this for TOCs, tacho coils and magnets etc.

When you go to the Washvac website, use .com instead of .co.uk and you should find it still works. They say everyone has been sent a letter with a new account number but I’ve not had mine.

😥 The Vax microswitch arrived today and I started the long process of fitting it and re-assembling the machine. It is a changeover switch so you have to connect to the right 2 tags. I thought I had carefully checked against the old switch to know which 2 to use but I must have got it wrong as the roller motor now operates when the machine is vertical but not when angled over 😡 So its back to square one.

Thanks Dave but I ordered one from Crums, plus a couple of ARM20 Hotpoint armatures.

Yes, I did take the fan off, it’s only held on with an Allen grubscrew. The windings are not open circuit but they could have shorted turns. I tend to change the capacitor first in such cases before fitting a motor costing megga bucks. The motor gets hot but does not seem to hum.058811 is a sealing strip, I think the bit I need is a rubber grommet type seal that goes on the motor spindle where it passes through the alloy casting between the motor and the fan. I suppose if the motor is U/S anyway I don’t need to worry about this though 😥

Thanks Dave, looks like I will have to see if my Crum & Sons account is extant, as I’ve not placed an order with them for about four years 🙄
