ParticipantRe: Smoking in the workplace
I have had a few customers jokingly tell me that they are not allowed to smoke in their own home while I’m on the premises. They usually say this just before lighting up 😆 It occurs to me that they don’t ask you about smoking when you get quotes for house or contents insurance. Surely smokers should be made to pay at least double?

ParticipantRe: NEFF U1721NOGB Element keeps blowing
If you have a problem with the fan it might cause this. If the fan sometimes stops turning the element will get hotter than normal until the fan cuts back in again.

ParticipantRe: ARE QUALTEX SHOPS TRADE ONLY
I think Crum & Sons in Glasgow has a retail shop as well as their trade warehouse (which last time I went was a shed behind a pub!)

ParticipantRe: Bosch WFL2462GB/12 carbons
This brush was tight the whole way in so it was sticking. That’s interesting about the plunger breaking the contact. If I had removed these carbons as part of a routine check I would not have considered them due for urgent replacement. The shortest one is 13mm long. They are the loose carbon type, 154740.

ParticipantRe: Whats the nicest things customers do?
I live near the Baxters food factory and they have a shop where they sell tins of soup etc cheap. I have a couple of customers who load me up with a dozen or so tins of soup when I’ve finished a job. Others give me plants for the garden or bags of fruit from their garden. A secondhand shop in Elgin where I do their guarantee repairs lent me a cement mixer to do a section of my drive that needed renewing. 😀

Thanks Bazza. Ah, so it is Connect who are wrong by listing 173396 as a front stat. I had chosen 173395 by eliminating the other 2 as being the wrong ones. 🙁

ParticipantRe: work opportunities downunder
Thanks gas. I tried doing the online assessment using “Tradespersons & Related workers” but failed. Partly age I guess, as at 48 I score no points for age.

ParticipantRe: work opportunities downunder
I was just looking at this after watching a TV programme about the assisted passages in the ’50s & ’60s. I was trying to work out if I had enough points to qualify but I can’t find our work listed in their list of occupations:
http://www.visabureau.com/australia/ski … -list.aspxI was surprised to find that UK qualifications are not worth any points but degrees etc from Australian universities etc are worth a few points.

ParticipantRe: Creda Condensing Dryer: I don’t believe it!!!
The overheat cutout can trip if there is poor air flow through the machine due to a fluff build up or faulty fan.

ParticipantRe: Washvac / Parts Center
You don’t need to be Corgi registered to renew the fan. Perhaps it is things like gas valves and burners they won’t supply.

I just logged in again and it worked as “normal”, i.e. after I logged in I got the following message:

ParticipantRe: Can anyone recommend a good lcd tv.
I recently bought an LG LCD TV. I mostly use it on digital so it is working on AV rather than its own tuner. The trouble is there is always a bit of background noise from the analogue tuner superimposed on the digibox sound. I tried disconnecting the aerial from the telly but then the background noise just becomes white noise. Apart from that, it gives a superb picture 😆

ParticipantRe: Bosch WFK2801 – outlet blocked?
Are you sure the blockage is in the machine and not the house plumbing? I would try having it draining into a bucket and see if it empties quicker.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint TDL30 Dryer
I can’t see my customer paying that sort of money. I will just fit a new felt and put it back together as it was. 😕
