Yes, you can end up selling the parts to the customer at trade price because it’s too embarassing to add a margin to an already well OTT price. I had such a situation this morning. Some weeks ago I had gone to a washer repair and was asked if I could also do anything about their faulty Miele dishwasher soap door catch. I explained that it would need a whole new dispenser but I would make enquiries. I emailed Washvac on their website enquiry setup. I can’t remember now if I just enquired on price/availability but I heard nothing until this week when the dispenser arrived, together with a bill for £97.30. As this was a special order I could not return the part so it was quite a relief when the customer agreed to pay this price. I’ve not made anything on the job but at least I’m not stuck with an expensive part I will never use.Phidom

ParticipantRe: Faults rectified.
I must admit that I sometimes forget I’ve asked a question if things are getting hectic and I’ve already found a solution elsewhere. Sometimes no replies appear for a few days, by which time it’s usually too late to act on suggestions. For example, I am about to sent an Indecent module away for repair but I’ve no doubt someone will tell me how to do the repair myself as soon as it’s in the post 🙁

I have one with exactly the same problem. Am I right in thinking the NTC is the temperature sensor thermister? If so, the one on this machine was reading about 36K. Are these triacs surface mount devices or do you mean the component labelled Q9/11/12 on the board? I have a Z0107MA-MBR triac in stock I could try if it is Q9, 11 or 12.

Since the customer made the original request he has rung again to say he wants lights in the top and bottom ovens. I had ordered a creda lamp, part No. 6101809 and went along this morning to see if it would fit. This will fit in the top oven but not the bottom. The customer had not mentioned this to me but it turns out he had already contacted Glen Dimplex, asking for the parts for the oven light. They had sent him 2 items, a lamp sleeve, part No. 082604954 and a bulb. I could not figure out how this sleeve would fit but I think I’ve worked it out now. It must screw to the inner back panel and space the lamp outwards to be flush with the fan cover. I’m not sure what to connect the top oven lamp to, perhaps there is a switch on the oven stat to disable the grill simmerstat?

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WF430 Bearing Kit
Looking at the Masterpart site there were indeed two versions of the weights but it looks like the earlier bottom one is no longer available. Both top ones are available though and the earlier one is not shown as fitting the WF models. I have got both types of bottom weight and it seems to me that the weight is concentrated further back on the later version.

ParticipantRe: I Hate Self Diagnostic Machines!!
Yes, when I bought my first automatic machine about 20 years ago I chose a push button, computerised Servis, thinking that the old motorised mechanical timers seemed antiquated. I thought that within a year or two all machines would be push button operation. It has taken a lot longer to happen but now I wish they had stuck with the antique timers! :rolls:

Thanks Dave. I see it’s about twice the price of the WMA kit and yet the bearings are smaller. At least the broken front bearing comes out easier than the WMA type.

hotpnt wrote:hi phidom, what was the problem with fitting the bearings?,
As I said, the old bearings are 6205 & 6206 with the small seal shown in the photo. My 1004473 bearing kit is 6206 & 6207 with a bigger seal. The customer was not willing to pay extra for a half drum + spider so it was another abortive attempt at earning a crust 🙁

Just a quick plug for Homespares. Their website actually tells you how many they have in stock rather than vague terms like “low stocks” or “usually in stock”.

The bearings are 6205 & 6206, this is the seal (sorry it’s out of focus I tried twice but the autofocus must aim at somewhere other than the centre of image):
