    Re: Hotpoint WF440

I unpluged, yes it was a pig, the motor when I removed it from the tub. I have checked continuity with the motor and the cable to the board.
I always lay the machine on the right side to remove the drum as it’s easier to get the springs out.
Thanks for the email Jim, it gives me a chance to check all the wiring and if it is all ok I’ll suspect the board.

Re: The Green Mile…How Do You Avoid Death by Electrocution

When I started on this 28 years ago I was green, working for Servis I did a few privates. I went to a Philips washer and working on it caught my metal watch band on something and couldn’t get free. Felt my face distorting and then ripped free. The lady had been watching and said “did you get a shock”
For a couple of months I had aching joints up my arm and shoulder so I probably started to cook.
Since then no metal watch straps at work (sometimes live testing is the only way) and normally take my watch off even if the plug is out.

Re: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?

I’ve been going to this customer for about 6 years.
She’s never in but although she knows when I’m going. I always have to move a table, water bottles and loads of carrier bags and under the sink, pots and pans, casserole dishes and more carriers.
I always leave everything just where I put them to but she still hasn’t got the message.
Still, she is a regular customer. 8)

    Re: Clamp on Ammeter questions

    Yep,
that’s the one I bought, it was only £14 but it was 3 years ago 😛
It is very good and the best thing over my old one is that if you forget to switch it off it does it for you so no flat battery on Monday morning 😳

Wouldn’t be without mine, the most used tool in the box apart from the screwdriver and hammer 😆 £14 from Maplin and worth every penny.Multi and clamp meter in one. I’ve used one for 14 years now. I like being able to test current at the mains terminal.
You may just guess I like mine.

Re: the replacement sealed tubs for zan12070s

I remember too that Zans had a bit of back to front play but of course they lasted years until Electrolux got their hands on them. If they still made them like the old ZFL model they would be on a par with Miele and I’d sell nothing else.
Have you had a new sealed tub apart?

    Re: HOOVER WASHING MACHINE

I had this, sent the board to EMW. They sent it back with a note that this machine leaks from the hose at the top of the tub or dispenser and shorts the pump. I covered the pump when fitting the new board.

I’m still not sure why you are so worried about the bearings when the seal stops the water getting to them.

Re: Where do you draw the line ? Rodents !!!

I think we have all had this.
One near Winchester, dog crap on the front and rat living in the machine. Bye Bye.
In Ashburton should have noticed the pile, about 2 foot high near the front door, crap on the kitchen floor and the dog peeing up the machine. They were most surprised I turned around and left.
A bit of dirt, yes but not my job to get sh+tty as there are other customers to get to. ➡

Re: Google – has your positioning changed?

I find that most people I have done work for say the just put in “washing machine repairs in west Dorset” and get me on local hosts?? that I have registered with so I’m not sure it will hurt me in any way.
