Re: 6 year old samsung fridge freezer diagnosed as un repair

I think Bryan made a typo error on his last word it should have said Regas.

If it’s reaching minus 25 in the freezer it sounds repairable to me.

It’s rare to have to write of a Samsung American fridge freezer.

    What model is it ?

That’s ok then as I have been to Fridge / Freezers where they have gone missing in transit.

    Re: Leibherr fridge freezer problem.

Possibly a faulty sensor or a fault on the defrost system.

Yes leave them on it will help protect the sealed ends of the pipes.

I could not see a tray to collect the water on top the compressor is there a tray above to collect the defrost water.

Re: Whirlpool to do a recall on Hotpoint dryers

Would that mean excess where and tear on any appliance that is subject to a recall for a fire risk and causes a fire is not the manufacturers problem ?

I expect any good lawyer would be able to get Whirlpool off if there advice was not followed by the customer.

Also if the customer is not following the recall advice of not leaving it unattended then that would be the customers fault as on a recall the engineer would have or should find the wear and tear that is not covered by warranty.

I am glad I stuck to refrigeration as the quality of goods are not like they used to be and made to be disposable and not repaired.

I am also glad I have now retired and not having to worry about such problems.

I stopped taking on new work and only keeping the business open until the end of March to cover any repairs I have given a warranty.

It will be unlikely to get any recalls as it was rare for me to get a recall unless it was a couple of days after a repair and this was generally down to customers not giving the time for the fridges to cool down correctly and panicking before they restocked the freezer.

    See you in Feb

I wonder how Whirlpool is going to get out of that one.

But Whirlpool do say it is safe to use as long as you do not leave it unattended so if the customer was not present when the fire started then the customer will have to take some of the blame.

Re: Bosch rigid fill hose – using on washing machine?

Washing machine hose’s are flexible for a good reason.

Any movement on a non-flexible hose will eventually give problems.

I would change it as soon as you can as hose’s are not that expensive and cheaper than getting a bad leak.

A FRG9343 from Connect may fit and are only about £3 inc vat
It will fit most compressors as long as there is room for it.

Fault = Position Sensing Error for Three flashes.

    1. Check Compressor wire connections u,v,w.

    2. Check PBA bottom side soldering.

    3. Check for compressor fault.

As you have low voltage it sounds like poor soldering joints on the inverter PBA.

The trouble with inverter compressors there is more to go wrong as it not just 240v as standard but the voltage veries according to demand. More to go wrong.

But a good money maker for Samsung.

You need to count the flashes as this gives the fault code.

If the compressor itself is faulty it should be covered by Samsung’s 10 year warranty

The cost to you is more than £18.500 as you have other employee expenses on top.

As a trainee £18.500 is more than fair.

Once he is fully trained who knows he may decide to leave and be competing against you for your customers.

When he starts earning you a profit then is the time to re access his pay.

Fully trained care workers who work shifts and unsociable hours would be glad to earn £18.500

Yes that looks correct in between the coils and not touching the heater.

The last person to work on it is responsible and it should be tested to make sure the appliance is safe and installed correctly to Gas Safe Standards.

What happens if it goes Boom as your public liability will not cover you if you are not Gas Safe.

It’s not worth the risk even though it will most likely be ok.

In future I think it would be better to take Kens advice and avoid this type of job.

Assuming you do not want to live in a big Hotel with bars on the windows.

As you hear a click after a few seconds.

It is unlikely to be the relay faulty and more likely to be the compressor seized.

To replace the compressor it is not a DIY or cheap repair.

To check the fan when the compressor is running you can open the freezer door and press and hold the light switch.

If the fan does not cut in within about 60 seconds the fan is most likely faulty.

You will have to disconnect and remove the Icemaker to gain access to the rear panel.
