Re: Oven element keeps on burning out

Is the oven fan turning fast enough to stop the element overheating.

Re: 1937 GE flat top help needed

Make sure you have it disconnected from the mains supply.

Connect the green wire to number 4 and the two Blacks to number 3.

Before you turn on the mains supply turn the thermostat off to the 0 position.

Turn on the mains and if the compressor does not run it is wired correctly.

If the compressor runs on 0 the off position then connect the two Black wires to 6.

Then set the stat to the temperature you require and the compressor will run.

The water filter fits in the white plastic water supply line.

If no filter is fitted at the moment you need to turn off the water supply and cut the white plastic pipe and fit the filter taking note of the flow direction arrow on the filter.

If it is reliable and working stick with the old one.

It is no good buying a new nice looking one if it is not going to be as reliable as your old one.

It is better to have cold food in an old fridge than warm food in a new one.

Have you set a time on the clock?

it does not have to be the correct time but if a time is not set the oven will not work.

Get someone to look after your food and turn the fridge freezer off with the doors open for 48 hours.

It may not have defrosted itself properly and this will allow it to defrost.

When you turn it back on it should be back to the normal temperature in 4 hours.

If this does not work you will then need an engineers visit.

The display buttons are sticking or the display PCB is faulty.

It is most likely low on refrigerant or you can check if it has an external fan motor and if is working.

    Re: APM6855-1 Fridge Freezer

I would bypass the door sensor in the freezer.

The sensor for the top door is part of the display PCB but never gives a problem.

But check the magnet on the top door has not come off as it is only screwed on.

There is also a main power PCB at the back of the fridge freezer behind the condenser.

It will most likely be the door sensor in the freezer if you bypass it the fan will still run with the freezer door open but this will not cause any problems, it still cuts out when you open the fridge door.

    Re: APM6855-1 Fridge Freezer

The fan only works with the doors closed.

You will need a magnet to check the voltage to the fan as the fan only works with the door closed.

With the fridge door closed open the freezer door on the right hand side near the middle basket you will see a small cover put a magnet to the cover to check the fan voltage.

On the APM 6855 the normal faults you get are defrost sensor or fan motor most other parts are reliable.

The fan sensor in the freezer can be by passed by joining the wires together if the sensor is faulty but you need it disconnected from the mains before doing this as it is permanently live.

The fan motors are expensive now but I can give you a connect universal fan motor part number if you need it as it will fit.

You also need to check you have not got it set on vacation mode.
