Re: after 30 years it just had to happen

Logically I would have thought that before any work was carried out the customer should have given you the right to inspect the faulty machine / pipe. How can they prove it was the machine that caused the problem? How do you know a mouse hadn’t chewed through the pipe? How do you know the machine hadn’t been pulled out and the pipe damaged after initial installation?

I would imagine you should put this in writing to the customers solicitor.
It all seems very unfair & no proof to go with it.
If you don’t want to go through your insurance then maybe a call to Citizens advice might be an idea. (Im sure if you asked for advice from your insurers this wouldn’t necessarily mean they would automatically pay the bill.)

If you haven’t done so already check the heater, if its open circuit or low insulation it will give you this fault. Also motor connector / wiring needs to be pulled and checked.

    Power off of course.

Your fault has been reported and discussed on here many a time.

What was the insulation of the motor?

I always advise the customer trying a few empty cycles first to help bed in the new brushes.

The spin on its never does the full wack but should be doing more than yours is.

Not worth putting a new motor in if still no joy.

Checking my database… I have had two instances of the on/off switch causing a zero insulation reading.

p.s. My database is in my head. Not sure what Martin uses.

    Re: Hoover Optima Range

All cases were nothing to do with being out of balance, all cases when a spin was selected the machine would start a wash cycle.
Again all other selections are perfect. (Selector issues Ive had before have been iffy on other programmes.)

They buy crap, they get crap…fair exchange, no robbery.

A bit harsh Martin. To date, touch wood, Ive found the Optima range a good buy. Still waiting to see how the sealed drums hold out but still early days. Ive never understood why the majority of people on this site are so negative towards Hoover.
Thanks though for your explanation on OOB. 😉

    Re: Creda TCR2 Rubber Impeller

About 6 months ago, when I was out of stock of the pumps, I cut a piece of pressure tube to the same length as the impellor. I put a small hole through it so as it was a tight fit for the shaft to push through.

It worked a treat and still is. The customer said she will call me when it stops pumping again.

WARNING : THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL MODIFICATION. 😉

    Re: H2O & F01

Its not a plumbing issue as the machine won’t even start now. Display comes on and door locks but zilch else. ( Induction motor and wiring to it is fine.)
Before this it would h2o and then F01.

Re: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?

Woman called yesterday and asked me to go to her daughters house.

I established she was out of my area.

‘I can drive you there if its to far for you!’ she said.

    😯

Then she wanted to come round to see me so I could give her advice on where best to buy a new machine.

Did you unblock the pressure chamber? Also shorten the pressure tube slightly. Oh and remove the eco ball.

E1’s on the New Wave how I miss them!!!

    Re: Dead washing machine

Logically either the new thermostat damaged the control unit or you have disturbed the wiring or you wired the thermostat incorrectly.

The chances of your door lock faulting at the same time you swapped the thermostat are pretty slim.

On some machines the motor wiring or motor being out of circuit can give you a door locking and nothing else happening fault.

Unplug electrically of course if you are going in.

Re: LG INTELLO WASHER NOT HEATING UP

The washing should be cold at the end as the machine rinses in cold water.
The washing may be smelly because its not rinsing properly.
It may just need an unblock and service. Click on repairs@ to find a local repairer.

Thanks for reply. Glad its not just me. The fact that the old one was so difficult to remove baffles me. On normal heaters the grommet is spread by the force of you tightening the nut, so I can understand why its difficult to remove the heater. Do you think Miele use a rubber which expands slightly when in contact with water?

    Re: SAMSUNG B1215 Washing Machine

Probably the pump again, rather than the brushes.
(Of course out of balance is an issue on these as well.)

Im sure the brushes are a CESET type on these? could be wrong!
