Quick update on the matter, the case is still ongoing and she is very well known to the bailiffs basing on what he retired care home manager said. She will try find out where she moved to and get an address.

thanks for this, I know what you mean on being able to buy products cheaper on t’internet than the suppliers themselves. Recently I needed a Samsung fan element, £60 for the element on all my suppliers, then on Amazon for half price from the same supplier. The moral of the story, always check all three – supplier, eBay and Amazon before ordering the parts.

    3100437713253120,

I happen to have a broken hoover washer, the DYN model 1400 spin with bearings failure. Suppose I could try using that motor?

didn’t check door lock, now this kinda makes sense. Is the rectifier contained within the module? The module is on the rear bottom left from standing at the rear. I couldn’t find any other module other than the control panel.

Re: Emollient on clothing catching fire…

but it does makes you wonder though. I am intrigued by the claim of closed unit such as condensing dryer potentially being prone to combustion by inflammable clothing caused by paraffin based emollients.

all I am asking, if there is a way to lessen the risks such as what is the correct washing instructions for removing emollients as high temperature washing is unsuitable for pyjamas and many other clothes including boxer shorts.

    Thanks Jim,

Shocked at the price! Me thinks the customer will scrap it and buy a Zanussi instead…

Re: how to repair website – who is he?

it’s interesting to note that he went into a lot of trouble to demonstrate on how to repair appliances and produced high quality videos. He went even further to supply relevant parts and advice given on what tools to use. It looks like he was giving away the trades secrets but all he did was put it together on what is out in the public domain. I say hats off to him and wonder if we are going to see more of those?

I know I am bit slow on catching up, just surprised to see one of those websites that is easy to reach simply by clicking on the link via youtube and before you know it it reveals more.

Re: What is your average call out time?

generally 4/5 jobs a day with approx 2 days response time. Sometimes same day if I happen to have easy work load. Trying to fit in around school runs and holidays. Sometimes I take my 8 years old son with me on jobs that I know it will be an easy job. My customers seems to like my son and I get left alone to get on with the work. My son often ends up getting extra sweets or even money more than I get in tips!

Re: How many machines have been written off

I’ve written loads off until I discovered EMW and QER. Maybe with this whole Brexit saga, customers might be more willing to have it fixed than replacing appliance since the new appliances are beginning to be pricey.

    Re: Card Reader

Izettle seems to work for me but I object to paying £10 for transaction fee for a £390 appliance purchase. At the end of the day it’s about choice for the customers and I generate a lot of business by offering the card payment facility. I encourage my customers to pay either in cash, cheque or bank transfer for appliance purchases as it is free for me to process against card payment but at the end of the day if the customer insists using the card then use it to keep them happy.

Thanks, there’s no error codes. I tried to determine the kind washing load they were doing, they swear it’s the usual washing load and nothing too taxing. Very puzzling that is… I can’t work out why the owner says it went blank, I couldn’t find loose connections. Maybe next time I will throw in the towels (no pun intended) to see how it responded to the load rather than empty load.

Re: Whirlpool to do a recall on Hotpoint dryers

I wouldn’t touch an ‘affected’ appliance irrespective of the fault until it has been rectified by Whirlpool. I even had a job recently to work on an 8 months old tumble dryer which is still in guarantee but the owner couldn’t get Hotpoint to come out for the love of money. All was wrong with it was the blown stats, finding replacement stats was a right job in itself as the appliance is too new to be listed on the usual suppliers. Took me a long time to source it and finally found it and paid a quite a lot of money for the parts which no doubt will get a lot cheaper when the majority of this model is out of guarantee which is probably in about 18 months time…

the code is 81541630400 if this any helps? The owner hasn’t had any work done on the appliance so this is the first which I attended this morning. So you think it would be worth the while for the customer to contact Hotpoint?

Re: Hotpoint Quadrio model CM04FFE /FF4D KUK

Is the model in question that the recall is still ongoing? Just that I have a customer this morning who have exactly the same problem. I disconnected the plug from the door. I am aware that a new door is the solution but the question is who is replacing the door and who pays for it? Is it me to replace the door and charge the customer or Hotpoint to replace it free of charge? I checked on Hotpoint website it doesn’t show that it’s ongoing issue despite the unit being 6/7 years old.

If I am to replace the door, can you help with identifying the wording of the description, the door in question is silver, I am assuming is the inox rather than shiny black?
