    Hi

Looking on Connect Dist. site, there’s a thermal limiter for this – presumably a thermistor. Wonder if that’s in need of replacement. Whilst on the subject, I’ve never come across anyone suggesting carrying a selection of resistors of known values to simulate the resistance of thermistors at various temps. Seem like a good idea?

Quite likely it has – that, or you need a new sole plate. Pretty easy to get into. Torx at front and back. Pull back cover off, handle top lifts off after releasing a couple of tabs

Re: no power to fill valve

    Hi,

Check for water in the sump which will activate the anti flood device (polystyrene float with a microswitch above it). This would cause the PCB not to initiate filling.

Check security of fill valve connectors to PCB. You’ll have to trace the wiring from the valve to the PCB.

Check for voltage where the fill valve block connector attaches to PCB.

Check that the machine has drained thoroughly. If not, check the outlet for blockages and the drain pump for obstructions, continuity and voltage.

That should keep you busy for minute or two 😉

    Hi Karl25

QER have confirmed that the speed control circuitry on the control board is faulty. They have fixed it but do not have a test for it, so they’ve told me that if it doesn’t work they’ll give me a full refund. I’m fitting it week com 9th and I’ll update then.

    Hi captaincaveman1

Worked a treat, thank you very much. What lead you to the heater – was it trial and error or an educated guess? Is the heater removable without splitting the washer frame, and would you recommend replacing the gasket?

Thanks Dave and Johnny, you learn something new every day. I’ve recently replaced the bearings so I’ll hang onto the dinosaur for a while longer.

Very likely commutator damaged beyond repair causing the arcing. It’s the usual way with vac motors

    Stop Press.

    Went out to this today.

’00’ was in fact’0000′, and was indicating end of cycle – albeit only 20 mins after start of cycle.

Soldered across burned out track on module.
Tested on spin and was ok at first, then as it reached 1400rpm, machine started belching out smoke – motor was burning.
Apparently, this is how the motor failed the first time, except then it didn’t take out the module.
Looks like a common fault on this machine – be warned!

    Re: Zanussi ZDT420 no heat

    Hi Geoff,

The circuit diagram was a great help, and I’ve traced the fault to a burned out heater relay. Looks like I’ll have to get QER to repair it. The relay looks like it would cost a few pence but seems to be unavailable from any relay suppliers except in batches of thousands.

    Regards, Derek

    Hi Geoff,

    Circuit diagram would be great.

customer has now advised me of an error code that appears to be intermittent – ’20’ in the display, and first two lights (row of four) solid.

Thanks very much for your help.
