KeymasterRe: Tricity Sovereign cooker
There have recently been enquiries about the availability of a Tricity Sovereign 4638 available for spares.
I have one in Bristol. We have just acquired a replacement cooker so wondered if anyone would be interested in the old Sovereign? 😆
Everything is working except main oven door RH hinge spring is broken, timer unit doesn’t select numbers easily; switch contacts shaky – but temps and timings are accurate, and main oven door seal is stretched a bit along the bottom.
Open to offers, regret buyer collects.

If it’s not cold enough it’s very unlikely to be the thermostat, check to see if the motor is running continuously, as this sounds more like a system fault to me which may prove terminal fue to the costs involved.
Well, the motor is not running continuously, just coming on and going off at intervals as you might expect. From what I’d read elsewhere it seemed that the thermostat might be responsible for this problem (ie thinks it is cold enough when it isn’t).
I also wondered whether the cost of a new thermostat might be less than the cost of calling someone out! I’d still be interested in getting hold of one, if you could source it.
Thanks in advance,
James

KeymasterRe: Broken door lock – Ariston AB1036 T
Hi Dave,
Just had to thank you. 😀
Took lid off and found it quite easy to locate catch, which moved when pushed with the flat side of a screwdriver.
The plastic door catch had snapped and wasn’t moving the locking hook.
Have now replaced and everything is working OK.
Many thanks for the help and advice. You saved me a small fortune on repair bills.
Thanks again,
Rosie

There are no UKW repairers I know of (barring Service Force agents) that I know of that can repair a gas tumble dryer, very limited choice I’m afraid and it likely won’t be too cheap to repair either I’m afraid. 🙁
As P says, this is NOT in any way a DIY job, you must get SF in to repair it and they will, most likely, not sell you a spare if you do not have a CORGI ID to hand if the rules are still the same as they were in my day.

Thanks for the advice. I was just wondering whether it might be a simple electrical thermostat. However it is more than likely that it is the tha gas valve or the flame out thermocouple and that would need a Corgio man. Mind you I wouldn’t be surprised if even changing the plug on a gas appliance requires Corgi. Another 5 years and we’ll be talking the same for electrical appliances. After all a poor repair could easily kill someone by electrocution or start a fire. Building regs part P is now law (no amateur electrical installations from 1st jan 05) so this Forum has a limited life, I reckon.

KeymasterRe: hotpoint aquarius wd420 not well
Hi,
My brand new Hotpoint Aquarius Washer Dryer also makes funny noises I think that might be normal for this machine.Until it broke (Gets stuck on wash and doesn’t get any further) the dryer used to take about 30-60 mins for light loads(3-4 shirts.)
My last machine suffered from a similar problem with the with the clothes comming out hot. Check that the hot and cold inlet pipes are on the correct taps. As silly as it may sound 2 engineers completly missed this!
Note: My machine was not from UK white goods I am just trawling the web looking for info on what is wrong with mine 🙁
