The bulb blowing has damaged the power module in all likelihood.
Have a close look at both sides of the power module (not facia module) and you may find evidence.

I would guess error 21 displayed, this is a preventative state after suspected worn brushes detected.
Resetting it via entry to the service, without replacing brushes or motor risks damaging the module and/or motor.

The instruction manual says that the amount of salt used should be determined by the water company’s figures for water hardness (which it was) not by simply setting the salt setting to maximum (which is what he did).
What evidence do you have that the salt in 3 in 1 tablets is less salty than salt in bags? Would a chemist agree with you?
Do you really believe that any heating element can be kept entirely clear of scale, and if not, what is a reasonable thickness for the element to tolerate? Is it 5 thou?
Presumably I am incredibly lucky then, that my previous dishwashers, washing machines and immersion heaters all tolerate our medium hard water.
And of course, presumably Bosch would never dream of saving themselves 50p on the cost of a component, thereby introduced planned obsolescence?
Anyway, it now has 3 in 1 and full hard water bagged salt – my guess is that it will react in the same way as your car does to winter roads – by corroding away. And good riddance to it, will be my view.

I tried to help, but I see where this is heading.

I shall leave you and your tin foil hat alone.

I’m a bit confused by that post. On one hand you state that the Bosch engineer was correct in his conclusion that not following the instruction manual led to the short life of the element, but then criticise the design for failure when instructions are not followed.

I have worked soft and hard water areas and there is a vast difference in the failure rate of water immersed elements, with poor maintenance or not following manufacturers instructions leading to the same result.

If you want to blame a design, then please point your finger at 3 in 1 tablets. 8)

If incorrect coding has been set, then the button you hold down when turning the knob may have changed. Had this following a B.G. Repair, had to try each button in turn until I found the right one.

Tease the gray arrow out with a sharp blade, then remove the single screw underneath. The housing may slide forwards or clip off depending on the variant

D bus “Communication error” I suspect with 2 lights on. Power module, touch control module (if fitted) and door lock hall sensor can all produce this fault.

Only uses heat pump on last rinse. To change zeolite heater, you need to remove tank. Sometimes water can reach the fan motor too! I have taken the power module out without disturbing the zeolite system.E31 means that water has been detected in zeolite heater tube.

Yes, the dishwasher would fail to heat. Zeolite heater is used to heat the wash water. Probably the large red “o” ring under the vent in the corner of the tank has allowed water to enter the zeolite element. (E31) Big job I’m afraid. 🙁

There is a software reflash that helps with the on/off button sensitivity.

Probably the selector switch, the default temperature is 160C and if a poor contact in the switch is present it, then it will revert to that from which ever temperature was chosen.

That’s right. Agency workers had to be used for many of the freestanding appliances due to the impact the repair action would have on every day customer service.
They are trained how to replace the module and carry out an electrical safety test. (they have a background in electrical work)
Anything more and a B/S/H engineer must attend. 🙂
