If you insure a new vehicle, an economic writeoff (over about 75{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of it’s value to reinstate) It’s replaced with brand new in the first 6 months. thereafter, you get “second hand value”at the insurer’s discretion, in exchange for the salvage.
the premium is based on the risk proportion and admin/profit.
put simply, the non-claimants subsidise the claims, just like the lottery or Pools. In this case, the recompense was fixed at approximately25{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the “value” of the new appliance….bearing in mind, the premium was about the same, this debases the whole concept of INSURANCE.
you claim,-they effectively cancel the “insurance” and refund the premium
no claim, they trouser the lot. dishonest, decietful and unethical. they were obviously trained by bankers 👿
WR To THE BUILD-quality, it seems the compressor, and gas-circuit are sound and give little trouble.fans and the ice-motor can be expected to have a fairly short life, the cabinet, panelwork, etc, can be expected to be somewhat flimsy in a “cheap” machine….but, given the cost-differential between the shoddy, unreliable circuit-boards fitted, and the same board with less marginal components, you’re talking under a fiver per machine.
I am damned sure it’s cost Whirlpool magnitudes more than that, in lost future sales, warranty-claims and call-centre costs, trying to wriggle out of this abysmal situation.
Overall, Whirlpool haven’t made record profits,-neither has any other Whitegoods manufacturer, recently.
Unfortunately, It’s my humble opinion, they’ve reduced quality below the acceptable for the brand-level in the market-place.
The pence saved in production are being frittered in pounds on warranty claims.K, I’m sure the ISE machines are “fit and forget”….so you have happy customers, a growing reputation, low warranty costs and a reasonable retained profit.
Indesit….from “great value ” to “great aggro” in 10 years or less.
In the car world, compare the Leyland rubbish of the “Red Robbo” era, to the Jap imports.
Allegro, Marina et al. leaking windows, glue drips on headlinings , badly fitted doorseals, handful of assorted “bits” under the carpets, unreliable.
the dealers had to virtually rebuild them at the Pre Delivery Inspection, as they left the factory as a loosely slung together kit of parts.by comparison, the jap stuff just got dewaxed and sold to customers who loved them.
I don’t think 10 years is an unreasonable expectation for £1000 fridge/freezer in a domestic setting. Whirlpool tried to bleed the last penny out of this one and got it badly wrong, my opinion, their (lost) reputation.

Use a multimeter…..disconnect one side of the heater….measure resistance between the 2 terminals ~25-30 ohms, iirc. higher is likely burnt out. lower would probably be shorted and fail leakage test below.
then measure either terminal to earth (heater sheath or bracket)….meter shouldn’t move!….digital should be many K-ohms or Megs. anything lower= earth leakage.
Order your parts altogether from the site shop,I’ll be amazed if they dont hit the doorstep within 24 hours 😀
I tried adding something 20 minutes later and order hed already been processed!!!!!February 22, 2009 at 10:25 pm in reply to: Indesit WIDL126 S Just keeps filling with water!! Oh God :( #277986cockney steve

Cockney’s take on the sump hose was worth putting into verse. (I wonder if he studies astrology on the side?) Very Happy He certainly has a way with words. Keep it up Steve, you’re a star!

A V I applaud your perseverance.
you should seriously consider getting a local radio/tv repairer to “rework” these boards.
it is a shocking waste to landfill a mechanically sound appliance , simply because £5 worth of components are substandard in the electronics.
At least, they appear to be standard types and values of components. Many washers use a custom-programmed chip and they can ransom you for the IP (Intellectual Property)
Please note your website is incomplete in your last post, and in your earlier post, it links to “blogger” and says “doesn’t exist”YOU@VE BEEN TAKEN DOWN.

Ha! I’ve now tracked-down” the picture ” 😛
having been mesmerised by the sheer quality (i didn’t say “high” 😈 ) of the motor and damper -mountings, my observations. :-
Yes, the sump-hose is the big-one with the cheap, nasty wire clamp that’s had leakage dribbling down it. (wd40 and nip it up….not too tight, or it will cut the quality rubber)
the thin black hose moulded into the side of it, will ultimately go to the pressure -switch…..with luck, you may be able to get to it by removing the cabinet lid.if you can’t get in to blow down the pipe, an empty washing-up liquid-bottle makes a good “puffer”
If the board has “gone”, as P45 has stated, it MIGHT be worthwhile finding an independent radio/tv repairer, show him P45’s comments and he MAY be able to replace the duff component (s) considerably cheaper than a new ,quality genuine “made down to a price” board.
Likely, the hardest part would be to accurately identify the actual component and source it, or a “beefier” substitute.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WF000 water inlet valves
I’d disagree with what A1 tec has said.
the pipes from your plumbing to the machine, normally screw straight onto the inlet-valve…..it’s very unusual for a valve to leak (though not unheard-of)
therefore, the major leakage-potential is the hoses themselves that connect the machine to the taps. the plastic ends do get brittle with age and the hose loses it’s “springiness” where the metal sleeve crimps it to the plastic end. They’ll usually last 10 years or so if not disturbed,so it’s safe to say they should last the life of a fixed-position machine.if you move the machine frequently, check the hoses regularly. otherwise just make sure the house insurance covers the (very unlikely) flood from a burst hose. 😆

sounds like a motor-capacitor or worn carbon brushes in the motor.
Do a forum search and you should find all the info. you need to establish your problem……contact “parts” at UK Whitegoods and you’ll get them super-fast 😆

It sounds like, for whatever reason, the machine is not detecting the fill-level.
drain and UNPLUG the machine first.
As Helo has said, find the pressure-switch….usually round, about the size of a tin of shoe-polish, terminals on one side (may not all have wires on them) and a rubber or plastic pipe (similar to car windscreen-washer pipe) disappearing to the lower part of the machine.when the machine’s empty, disconnect the pipe from the switch and blow down it…..it should be fairly easy and “may” make bubbling noises. do NOT blow into the switch, they’re very delicate as they need to detect a couple of inches of water-pressure.
if the pipe is clear, refit it….check all electrical connections are firm.
if all ok but problem still exists, it is either a faulty pressure -switch (unlikely) or the main circuit -board is faulty….(highly likely , given their poor build-quality)

sounds like you got the wrong part!
If there was a modification, I’d think the manufacturers’ tech. department would advise the new connections.
this site cannot help with wiring….see rules,#8

Sorry , Bryan, i should have been clearer.
What i really meant, was , “if you use a slightly larger diameter ducting, it’s CROSS-SECTION will be proportionately MUCH bigger.
so, the biggest, smoothest duct with the gentlest curves , gives the easiest flow.
but! you need to consider that if it’s TOO big,the airspeed can drop to the point that suspended grease and moisture drops inside the duct instead of being drawn out.cockney steve
ParticipantRe: Sanyo EM-SL30N Microwave. Bulb replacement.
For some unfathomable reason, the wily oriental manufacturers see fit to use “oddball” bulbs for this purpose,so they can hold you to ransom.
IF you intend to “go in” WARNING!!!! EVEN UNPLUGGED, A LETHAL CHARGE CAN EXIST ON THE MAGNETRON CAPACITOR. IT KILLS!!!!!
(if you don’t know the fault that can cause this, don’t go there)
personally, i just don’t bother ,as these appliances are at throwaway prices nowadays…..a magnetron is usually over 1/2 the price of a complete appliance.

ParticipantRe: BOSCH HBN7050GB/01 main oven problems
is it a fan-oven? if so, is the fan working?
Does the oven have more than one element? if so, are they all working?
A thermostat is just a switch…..your oven is either not producing as much heat as before, or not spreading it evenly as before.
you need to methodically check both the above pointers.

ParticipantRe: Indesit Hob PV604IX – Wiring
You are on your own, on this one, I’m afraid 😥
the Forum rules don’t allow posting wiring-diagrams.
I’d guess that it’s a potential-liability issue, but the circuit is probably copyright anyway.
write or phone Indesit (Merlioni) and they might help you.
If you feel capable, open up the hob and it should be pretty obvious which wires go where, once you trace them.
If that’s beyond your abilities, you’ll have to get an engineer in.
sorry, not what you wanted to hear, and no, I don’t know either, so I’d have to trace the wiring.

ParticipantRe: Whirlpool microwave amw480/ix sparks on top!!!
just to add to the warning!
EVEN WHEN SWITCHED OFF AND UNPLUGGED, A MICROWAVE CAN KILL AND HAS, KILLED PEOPLE.
Normally , a bleed resistor makes it safe, BUT if the resistor has failed, a lethal charge remains. even professional engineers have been caught out.
I agree that accumulated greasy dust is the most likely cause of the “spark display”…it will get worse and could brender the machine unsafe or “kill” it completely. -
