ParticipantRe: Bosch Dishwasher Recall
Thanks for all the info guys.
Whatever the reason behind the recall/non recall I’m going to look for some sort of an official line on it from BSH.
It’ll put my mind at rest with regard to dealing with customers in the future who have a m/c that the website says should be recalled.
I’ll keep you updateddave

ParticipantRe: Bosch Dishwasher Recall
Again incorrect as there have been several instances where the module has indeed caught fire. I personally have had several cases.
This is what concerns me. Not so much for my own m/c but if I come across a customer with one that should be recalled what do I do?
I’ve soldered a few heater relay legs on these and now, as I’m the last person to have been at it, even if something unrelated causes a PCB fire guess who’s to blame!Furthermore I would advise dave-m to contact Bosch directly again but this time in writing direct to the Service Manager of BSH in Ireland to complain even more!!
I do intend following it up, both with Bosch and with the consumer agency if necessary as I can see one of these coming back to haunt me, or other repair guys in Ireland someday.
Even if Bosch only supply me with a good reason (in writing!) as to why the recall is not required here then I’ll be happy (and covered).I’ll keep you updated.

ParticipantRe: whirlpool adg 7460 dishwasher
I had the same problem this week and it was the wash motor, replaced it and it’s fine.
I spoke to a mate of mine in whirlpool and although he’s not sure what the 4 beeps are supposed to be saying (I’ve seen another thread here where it talks about 3 short beeps and one long) he said that when when the motor goes (usually from the magnet coming apart) it throws up all kind of misleading faults/fault codes.
Also, if the m/c was bought from Jan 2010 on then it should have a two year warranty, mine was just out!
These motors seem to be failing a lot and the replacement is the same as the original so I’m not sure if this one will only last 2 years also…, I let the customer know this beforehand and he agreed to go ahead with the job anyway.

Had one of these myself this week, taking the motor out and putting it back in got the motor going but I suspect it’s still goosed as I believe they go all the time and this one will too probably…
How do you reset the machine? Are you talking the standard programme reset or is there a way of entering diagnostics and resetting alarms?
I’ve no tech info on these so any help…Cheers

Thanks Martin,
Landlord is not interested in having it repaired and wants me to replace with same.
However, there’s only two Bosch integrated W/Ds available here and they are, wait for it, 1170 and 1250 euro respectively!!
So he won’t be going for that then…2 questions:-
If he insists, Does anyone know of a good washer/dryer (an oxymoron if ever there was one!)that I could recommend?
And
Is there any point in taking the old Smeg/Bosch (Smosch?)and repairing it?
There’s a local Meals on Wheels who’ll need a W/D soon (they have a WD440, so probably very soon…) I could repair it and donate it to them, but only if it’s an ok machine, do they cause a lot of trouble, should i walk away?Cheers

ParticipantRe: Samsung RS21 Forced defrost if possible?
Is there any chance I can get that info too?
I may have to go and look at one on tuesday. At the moment they’re waiting to see if they can get samsung out to look at it as they read somewhere about possible fire problems?
If not they’ll be calling me back and I don’t even do these fridges really, but It’s an old customer…..
Or should I just stay away all together?Dave

ParticipantRe: Bosch d/w SG45E02GB/56
Update,
Asked him to double check if the pump was running after the door was opened.
Turns out when he opened the door the pump stops but it’s not the drain pump, it’s the circa pump, when he opened the door the water was dribbling out of the upper spray arm, it wasn’t turning as he said that opening and closing the door turned off and on the pump and water ran out of the spray arm but it stayed in the sane position.
Does this make sense?
I’ve never heard of this before.Dave
