Best advice I got when I started was to get a good chartered accountant.
Mine has saved me a fortune over the years and also talked the Customs 😈 out of doing a VAT inspection on me a few years ago.

    Worth every penny. 😀

Following the problems in the sub-prime lending market in America and the
run on Northern Rock in the UK, uncertainty has now hit Japan.

In the last 7 days Origami Bank has folded, Sumo Bank has gone belly-up
and Bonsai Bank announced plans to severely cut back its branches.

Yesterday, it was announced that Karaoke Bank is up for sale and is likely
to go for a song, while today shares in Kamikaze Bank were suspended after
    they nose-dived.

Furthermore, 500 staff at Karate Bank got the chop and analysts report that
there is something fishy going on at Sushi Bank where it is feared that staff may
    get a raw deal

Most of these machines I have seen start to pump after rinsing with no spin action, untill the pause when the brake seems to dissengage and away it spins.

There are two different gearboxes on these machines either can be used for replacements one type has “neutral drain” stamped on the top.
It does what it says on the tin ie drains in neutral then the timer stops the motor which makes the gearbox go into spin gear.

If the gearbox doesn’t change into spin with a positive clunk try lifting and closing the lid to try and force a gear change. If it takes a few attempts to do it the gearbox is on the way out.
BTW most if not all of these machines will do a momentary stop in between the drain and spin to facilitate the gear change needed if the neutral drain box is fitted. 😉

    Ron’s present
A Young man called Ron wanted to buy a Christmas present for his new girlfriend. They hadn’t been seeing each other for very long and she lived a considerable distance away.
He consulted with his sister and decided after careful consideration, that a pair of good quality gloves would strike the right note, not too romantic and not too personal.
Off he went with his sister to Harrods ladies dept and they selected a dainty pair of fur lined quality leather gloves. His sister bought a pair of knickers for herself at the same time.
Harrods had a free gift wrap offer but the assistant mixed up the two items, the sister got the gloves and Ron got the knickers.
Good old Ron sent off his gift wrapped present in a parcel with the following letter:
    Dear Kate,
I chose these because I’ve noticed that you are not wearing any when we go out in the evenings. If it had not been for my sister I would have chosen the long ones with buttons, but she wears shorter ones (which are easier to remove).
These are a very delicate shade, but the lady I bought them from showed me the pair she had been wearing for the past three weeks and they were hardly soiled at all.
I had her try yours on for me and she looked really smart in them even though they were a little bit tight on her. She also said that they rub against her ring which helps keep it clean. In fact she hasn’t needed to wash it since she began wearing them.
I wish I was there to put them on for you the first time, as no doubt many other hands will touch them before I have a chance to see you again.
When you take them off remember to blow into them a little bit because they will be naturally a little damp from wearing.
Just imagine how many times my lips will kiss them during the coming year.
I hope you will wear them for me on our next date.
    All my love
    Ron.
P.S. My mum tells me that the latest style is to wear them folded down with a little bit of fur showing.

Re: Whirlpool T/L 3RLBR8543JQ0 spinning slow

You can check for a worn clutch by putting the machine through a spin cycle then have a feel of the clutch cup on top of the gearbox.
If its bl**dy hot then the clutch is worn and the gearbox is probably ok.
Try the spin cycle with the lid up You should be able to turn the drum by hand whilst the motor is running.

Also check for oil contamination of the clutch often indicated by a line of oil sprayed round the inside of the cabinet.

Easy machines to work on but I would never bring one in for repair 🙂

    Jim.

So they rebuild your machine after two or three years use for half of what you paid for it and call it a good deal?
I think the engineer’s toolbox will be full of brochures not spanners 😉

    Re: footwear

I get mine from ARCO they do a good quality brogue safety shoe which in my experience wears well without splitting the sole, plus they polish up like new.
BTW I don’t take shoes off when working either.
I’m not dirtying my socks on somebodys dirty floor no matter how long their beard is 😉
