ParticipantRe: running modern L.G. washer on generator.
thanks for all the advice. in the end when i got there she had an ancient miele so i fixed that instead. i’ll certainly bear all this in mind for the future as i am in a rural area.

ParticipantRe: Belling Hob rings out of control!!
hi seamy
found this post of yours on google.
i have a punter with an E641 belling
masterpart are showing the part as 012590800 quite pricey. picture has a link wire.
do you know if the much cheaper 082611723 will fit/
in past i have replaced these with ego regs after working out how to wire them but i’ve lost my plan. so fitting these cheaper gen parts would be better.
thanks

have sent email to L G. to date no reply. a computer guy said to run it through an UPS (uninteruptable power supply) haven’t worked out cost or even if they can run up to 3KW.

my rule is that if you have to disturb the top, DONT do it. Its not worth the potential consequenses. i do however change oven elements in dual fuel if i only need to remove back.

not being flippant but it probably the same crowd who make LUXOR simply because of the egyptian type name. trouble is i don’t know where they come from either.

i’ve had customer on phone today saying his machine stops spinning at 7minutes to go. it does drain off the water but also starts taking in water at this point. would love to know in advance before spending friday afternoon working it out. its the taking water bit thats got me stumped.

ParticipantRe: hotpoint dishwasher pcb repair
when boards fail to allow heat you usually find that its the relay connections that have overheated and failed. if you look on underside its usually really obvious. very common on bosch.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint washer dryer WD420P
i’ve had machines of various hotpoint models particularly wf giving ntc faults and some doing weird things. in each case a brand new ntc has not cured the problem. however i’ve referred them to hotpoint who’ve fitted new modules to fix it.
hope this helpsAugust 17, 2010 at 5:45 pm in reply to: ignis adl348 dishwasher – non draining. 4 flashes repeating #327912keithwilliams
ParticipantRe: ignis adl348 dishwasher – non draining. 4 flashes repeat
look to right side of sump with the filter out. you’ll see a ciculat black mesh. is it full of grease etc. behind this mesh is a diafram and a microswitch. this will give a four flash error if its empty and filling and a two flash error if its full and draining. if it does look choked up then remove the sump water with sponge or similar then fill sump with boiling water to clear the gunge. DO NOT poke anything through the mesh.
this is the simplest repair method if not then the switch assembly may have to be removed and replaced. the water in the base may be due to overfilling or the membrane in this switch may have perished.

ParticipantRe: whirlpool awg 280
a 280 is as basic as it gets. however number 1 is prewash 2 is 95 and so on 5 is non fast colourds. the temp knob is to wash at recommended temp or less but not more. a is final rinse and spin. numbers 6 and higher are delicates and from memory i think 9 is wool. otherwise number 5 at 40 will cover most washes in about 45minutes.

ParticipantRe: Ignis ADL349/A/1 circ motor
if this is the motor with the integral heater in the impellor housing then it will be the more expensive one. godknows why they fit these after the history of failure with the first askoll pumps.

ParticipantRe: diplomat dw,hja8630
even a £2.99 multimeter would give you at least a continuity reading on the element. i have a seaward supernova plus pat tester. it’s the dogs b******* but it cant tell me if the elements open circuit unless its on heat cycle during a power-up test.
like the guys say, get yourself a stand alone insulation tester and you’d have diagnosed the elements status straight away.
finally of course it could take out a fuse. lets say that when it failed it went down to earth but since cooling off that earth fault has “healed” itself.
oven elements do this all the time.keithwilliams

thanks manual wasn’t available. however a phone call to them today seems to have sorted it. didn’t know it had a child lock.

ParticipantRe: smeg dishwasher di612c washes stops starts stops starts
shouldn’t the solenoid be more like 3.5? my smeg used to do all sorts of weird things until i pinched the coil from a water valve and fitted it to the dispenser. other than that, i praise god every day that my smeg keeps working.
