i’m having an issue with one as well. my problem is it won’t spray. checked everything back to the board and when shorting out the switched side of motor relay the pump works fine. took out board and tested relay with 12v across coil and nowt. so you may have same problem with the heater relay circuit. been quoted £50 plus vat for new module.
thing is i wish my customer would bale out.

weighed in 4 diswashers and 6 washers last week and got £120.00.
with regard to waste licence the local council told me that as i was generating my own waste as opposed to going around collecting it, then i can weigh in without a licence. been doing it for years. all i do is give the scrap yard my name address and reg and everyones happy.

most probably the wash pump. it’s likely to have an askoll spray pump which should be replaced by a conventional one available from masterpart for about £45. double check your model number on their site.there are many threads about these pumps.
    i do a couple a week.

    Re: Newish Hotpoint Problems already

its an indesit which has a spray pump of such poor quality its even worse than the bad whirlpool ones. i’ve replaced a couple of the hotpoint ones both at about 13 months. dare i say it but now you’ve bought it you might consider their extended labour warranty, cos it costs £104 to get hotpoint out once your normal warranty expires. an independent like me would be hard pushed to replace that pump for less and still be able to feed my kids.

repair loads of these. if you are unfortunate to have the model with the askoll spray pump then it will be seized. there is a retro fit conventional motor which will replace it and you’ll never have this problem again. best get a quote from a local guy, i do it for £110.00. (northumberland)

if its just a miniature latching switch on the board then cpc will definately have something to solder in its place. i regularly solder in miniature tactile switches but they don’t latch. take it out and have a look.
    good luck.

update on this dishy. it does have a capacitor motor on it. however it is a very small white plastic encased motor. the capacitor is 3mf and is black rectangular and screwed to the chassis on side. the capacitor has red and a blue wire. the motor is fed via two white wires one is piggy backed to the heater neutral the other goes back to the module.
i traced the wire back to the corresponding relay on the board. with bits hanging out i put the machine on prewash and waited for the point where spray pump should work. NOTHING!
the relay is single pole so i shorted the 240v output across the relay and the pump worked o.k.
situation now is that the board is on desk so that i can test the relay with a 12v dc supply. if its duff then i’ll solder in a new one. i must say its probably the 12v supply to it which is dodgy.
to sum up then these symptoms are definately the boards fault whenever the humm noise isn’t there.

going to one of these today. i tried describing the indesit type motor to another repairer whose job it is, but he reckons that isnt whats in it. i’ll give update when i’ve been. he did find a 3mf capacitor changing it didn’t work. (he doesnt do dishwashers normally. i persuaded him to have a go and this was his first job. probably put him off for ever).

i have done one before. it was ages ago. if i remember right it was a set of zanussi washcraft bearings. the only real problem i had was that the old bearings were rusted to the shaft and was one hell of a job to get it off. in the end it all worked out though.
it also had old type aeg motor on.

if the wash tub has plenty of water in it then i’d assume a blockage of some sort. with regard to taking off the base, i’ve done loads of them over the years and familiarity makes it quite easy. however if you’ve never done one it is a real pain. it would be better done in the workshop after sucking all water out with an aquavac, then you can fiddle about without someone watching. i suspect no one has advised you because it would be far too complicated to explain.
the basics would be to remove metering device and the side matrix. unhook the hinge strings. unhook the spray pump rubbers, remove the screw holding the base to the tub. the fill valve and drain hose outlet to be loosened off, the wiring loom connectors detached from the base. then with it lying on its back the base should ease off leaving everything else attached to the sump.
i’ve probably forgotten something, but what i’ve described might help you decide wether to bother at all. with practice it is ok to do.

    finally a reply from LG
they do NOT recommend using their machines on a generator.
however they did not mention what effect doing that would have on the warranty.

Re: Whirlpool built APDW/2 Circ Pump ?

suck out all the water. lay it on its back and remove the base plate.
it’s really obvious what to do when you see it. i personally use a suitable good quality cable tie for the hoses. never had one leak or fail.
finally keep the impellor housing from the old pump. i promise you will be able to use it in future.
