It has always appeared to me that an Askoll pump was invented so that you could take out the middle bit and re-use the undamaged coil/stator.
But I’ve never been able to buy a rotor/housing seperately and when I e-mailed Askoll about it some years back, I didn’t get a reply. Maybe I should have tried to get my request translated into italian.

Thanks for that Ken. Looks like I’ll have to stick the price up a bit then. 🙂

ParticipantRe: Much work in South West area?
Have to confirm what hotpnt says. I moved down here 12 years ago. I’ve always been a bit lazy and unambitious at heart so the slow pace kind of suits me 🙂 . It’s taken me those 12 years to get established and the only way I can make it pay anything like a reasonable profit has been to ditch the car and go everywhere by bike. The only serious competition around for me at the moment (since most others either died or emigrated) is a local fella who advertises no call out, free estimates and, wait for it, “most jobs just £12 plus parts” 🙁

Have heard rumours that a crudded up turbidity sensor can cause this. Ways to clean it without dismantling have been discussed on here. Try a search, INYD.

qas,
How much to send a dozen to UK? 😆 Or would we have to pay import tax? 🙁

That is truly amazing good luck. To find exactly what you need close to home!

Thanks Chris. I’ll probably be going back in about a week. Awkward dishwashers can wait till I get washing machines sorted.

ParticipantRe: two faults ..samsung wfj145n and servis 491 w c
Never seen a Samsung yet but remember that a few machines (e.g. some Servis) wire the pump in series with a water valve as a flood prevention mechanism. (Pump o/c = no fill).
When, as occasionally happens, solenoid goes short circuit, pump comes on continuously on all progs..
Possibly valve could go low resistance and still let some water in at same time as pump pumping. It’s a long shot, I know, but nothing would surprise me any more.

True enough. And that means that it’s not really the government which runs this country. And so changing it would make little difference. Elections just give us the illusion that we have some tiny bit of influence. :silent: majority.

Thanks for the bedtime reading, Chris. 🙂

ParticipantRe: Zan WD not drying
There’s some of these modern Zanussis which have a faulty drier solenoid coil which goes open circuit when it warms up a bit. (Reads OK when cold). It’s been discussed on here before. Costs nothing to try in a coil.

Don’t know if this is one of these machines that has to have a full load in before agreeing to spin?

Er, yes. “Standing shoulder to shoulder with America on Iraq” and uh, a little matter of bolstering a certain failing bank with Rock in the title.
