    Re: Belt fitting tool

Funny, it’s about a year since I last got called to do one. Can scarcely remember how it’s done. But I can remember a hole in the kickplate which has a plastic cover with a picture / diagram embossed in it which I imagined had to do with the special tool. If not, what’s it for? Oh, I mean VTDs not CTDs.

When you ring him back for correct model no, ask him if he’s sure it’s not just the knob that’s broke.
Nope, hang on, Masterpart list a 600DFSIOA in various cols.

Do you poke the special tool through that plastic capped , wide hole in the kick plate area, after having reassembled the machine? I’ve never had the special tool as don’t do enough to justify the purchase. Presuambly screwdriver / spanner users fit belt before putting front on?

92128719 Connect have it at £48.50 + vat. with no pattern equivalent listed. Masterpart P.O.A. Looks like a perfectly simple two tag stat with 1/4″ flat shaft. You could get half a dozen or so cheap pattern stats for a lot less and choose the one that fits best. Or take the old one, including knob for temp range, in to your local supplier and see if he can find you a match from stock.

WM51. That would have a hybrid timer. The bit of it you would have needed to look at is tight up against the cabinet so you’d have had to pull the timer out. Is there 240v across the relevant valve coil? Is it that that shuts down after 10 mins, or the flow of water before that? My stab in the dark guess would be that there’s some sort of flow restrictor getting blocked somewhere.

OK, perhaps I wandered off topic a bit but all that corporate stuff about what this and that retailer is doing doesn’t interest me.
How was it a debacle, though? Was it not successful for them?

I’m under no illusion that this is anything other than a response to consumer demands. The most common complaint I hear about modern machines is, “It takes so much longer to do a cycle than my old one did.” The great thing about cheap, short life-cycle machines, from the consumers’ and manufacturers’ points of view, is that they can quickly respond to changes in fashion and other consumer wishes. Just like in the clothing industry. These guys have done their market research.
There is no reason why they would ask us. We are of no importance, except to a few weirdos (I don’t mean quickwash, obviously) who wish to live in the past.

Note, she’s a Miele owner. How many Russell Hobbs buyers can afford to go trekking down under to escape the winter here? 🙂 It’s been that cold these last four months, the only thing I’ve been washing off my work clothes is washing powder 👿 .

Well, it’s summer down there, she’ll have a rucksack full of sweaty clothes to do when she gets back 😆 .

Think customers would feel a bit ripped off if something was described as a cycle but didn’t include a spin.
It sounds like they’ve rehashed the Zan jetsystem and simply added an extra pipe so it sprays over the washing from two directions at once. We’ll have to wait and see. Or, not see if we’re lucky.

Re: one for mike LMTGOWI / jim IADOM – miele w800 6 switch p

Only just seen this. Did you figure out what blew it? Maybe like Seamy says, leak from soap disp or holed seal hits door lock and bang. If there are push button switches on the other side of that pcb they may also be damaged. If it’s the pcb with a yellow button for door opening, maybe they can do without that and just use the emergency pull tab by the filter.

    Re: whirlpool amw6100-6k washing machine

Certainly, the carbons being down do cause some Whirlpool machines to stop dead at varying points in the programme with a door lock fault indication.
Sometimes a break in a motor wire can occur but be still holding by the insulation. This is often caused when the motor connector falls off its bracket and is able to waggle about during spin. (I hope you’re not my grandmother.)….

(Especially as she’s been gone a very long time, God bless ‘er.)

PS. I had a look at your website and like its simple lines. Is it just not running right though, or is it a work in progress?

in reply to: Six Lux Washing Machine Drums Jammed – Not Bearings… #347463

Re: Six Lux Washing Machine Drums Jammed – Not Bearings…

I once had one jammed absolutely solid and could not believe it was anything other than some sort of catastrophic bearing seizure even though there was no lateral movement.
Went equipped to do the bearing job and got so far as getting the drum out only to have a screw drop out as I separated the halves.
The other day an established customer way out in the sticks off my usual routes called with a problem like this. I gave her the info over the phone and suggested she have a go herself. She rang to thank me a couple of days later. She’d been successful after several tries and found the rubber strap on one of those jampot opening devices was what worked best for her.
