A poor connection in motor plug could have same effect as worn carbons. BTW should that be awm6100?

Re: Now ASDA are at it.

Sorry Jim, I’m afraid we’ll have to disagree. I think a 12 minute wash would do well enough for many items which haven’t started to pong. Realistically, in my experience, that would be 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} or more of what all the people I know load up with. You have to remember that doing the washing is such a simple & effortless task nowadays that people actually enjoy doing it. It gives them a sense of having their lives under control, at least in that one aspect. And so they wash more stuff than they really need to.
If what you say about the, “large part of the public” is true, it doesn’t matter, they will learn soon enough to keep the more soiled items for a different programme. Only difficulty will be for those who are unwilling or unable to devote the time to sorting the washing, and they will no doubt continue with their former habits.
I’ll wager that we’ll see more brands taking up the challenge and introducing their own versions of, “advanced technology in the service of the environment” in the near future.

Along with the pump, module and wiring loom in his other items. He’s obviously just gone through the whole list and clicked re-list. Won’t have cost him any extra listing fees.
His postage rates are a bit over the top, but the wiring loom is “pick up only, free”. Any one near Basildon mind picking it up for me if I win? 😆

Ye cynical doubters all. Looks like a good idea to me. Half or more of the washing most people do has only been worn once. Even the Sun article explains it’s not for heavily soiled items, and the machine will surely have plenty of other cycles to choose from.

    Re: Other Repairs

I’ve always dabbled in other stuff but generally it’s not very lucrative, although it does keep your brain active. In the last couple of years, I’ve managed to successfully repair a couple of laptops and digital camcorders and for some time I’ve been training myself on dismantling, cleaning and aligning porro prism binoculars. There’s some very helpful sites, not least Youtube.

    Re: hp wd61p squeaking

I got this once after doing a bearing job, many years ago, before anyone had told me it was necessary to grease the bearing seal.
Do these have a bearing housing drain hole, like in the old WM series? If so, it could be worth trying a good squirt of oil or “spray grease” into the hole using the long nozzle.

For metal items, use a strong magnet from the back of a speaker, put it inside the drum against the front face. Once the object is attracted to the magnet, turn the drum until the item is at the top and pull off the magnet.

Just one of many results of an advanced search of the forum. Sometimes you wonder what Martin is like :rolls: . If the drum is jammed solid, try stuffing the rag in a bit firmer to open the gap a bit between the plastic and the stainless surfaces.

If it has the thermistor in the condenser to tub hose, above recirculation pump, check the wires to it are not broken.

Damp due to location. Look for condensation on brush holders. Anything under 40 megohms is enough.
Maybe the E40 needs clearing through diagnostics.

Then the customer has a perfect right to kick up a little bit of fuss; e.g. phone Sharp and give them a piece of her mind. And, if she gets no redress, to spread the word around as widely as she wishes via review sites etc. (I have assumed it to be a female.)

Re: customer has cut the plug off

Was the loose fuse holder you mentioned in the plug? Or an internal fuse in the microwave? Probably wouldn’t change anything legally but would give customer a bit of ammunition for a moan if it was latter.
