That would be something to bring to the attention of trading standards if it turns out to be the case.
08443 712758 is Hoover spares apparently. Best try them first.
If really stuck with it, can the button not be re-affixed with a short length of cable tie and superglue? At the very least a temporary repair.

Pretty certain that’ll be the standard large bearing kit 344703012, about a tenner from Connect.

I was wondering whether it might have something to do with the inlet valve. If it’s the anti-overflow type, the pressure operated magnet thing on top seems to get stuck in the tripped position sometimes. Never have quite understood that particular system and all its foibles. Tapping the valve will reset it but this sometimes only works as a temporary measure.

Exploded diagrams on Connect mediator but no bearing parts stocked. If you get the old ones out you might be able to get pattern matches. Seme used to stock some Miele bearing seals. Their old catalogue lists the following sizes but without model no.’s
    28 x 42/52 x 13,
    30 x 53/60 x 10/13,
    35 x 76 x 10/14.

Have had two of those ugly wall planners so far. Now today a calendar with lovely pictures of vacuum cleaners and similar things to brighten up my office .
Wish they’d stop wasting my money on postage and filling up my paper recycling bin.

Don’t see many Whirlpool here but had one a while back which was similarly dead and it turned out to be open circuit heater. Have you tried a search here on the model or similar models, e.g. “AWO*”

    Re: Hotpoint CT61C

According to MPT that model is a “Crusader”. Hotpoint equivalent models seem to be TDC30 /32 /60/62.

I seem to remember this on a similar model, built-in slimline. I think the pump ran with door open but it turned out to be normal and you just had to wait a minute or two for the programme to kick in. Can’t guarantee my memory though 🙁 .

    Re: Loose Bearing Insert

Once I had the bearing housing fracture when I was hammering out the front bearing. The front 2cm or so of the housing came away as a ring. I araldited it back in place and it lasted very well. Your situation there is of course more difficult. I would have been tempted to give it a go by drilling holes around the periphery from the back and inserting bolts or long self tappers. But not if water had been coming through that way.

The only problem I can see, apart from your not having much space in the back of your van for his family silver, is that, if he works in the city, he’s going to have to exceed the speed limit by a considerable margin to get back in time to pay you. It seems doubtful that he would be labouring on a neighbouring farm but you never know! It’s a strange world.
Anyway, he’s no doubt heard from Lord George Herbert about how trustworthy you are!

Last time I looked, a couple of years ago, there were plentiful used ones on e-bay very cheap and not necessarily clapped out.

Condensation on brush holders can cause this. Or possibly other earth leakage.

Re: Old Servis Quartz (plastic tub) drain pump.

I’m pretty sure that’s right. There’s a 9636 model which could be what you have. Alternatively most wholesalers do a universal pump kit with various chambers which enables you to fit an Askoll to it. E.g. Electrue PMP888.
