No, did’nt look at that hose, might try that then. Inlet triple valve was changed by my good self about 3 years ago, seems to be pulsing normally on dry. Blockage or NTC then? Anyone know resist values?

Well may do, but the part that I fitted is the only bit with my guarantee.

Yes, i think thats whats called a ‘loaded’ question :rolls: What they really mean is that outrageous £45 you charged me better mean i can call you 24
hrs a day for the next 3 years if this thing so much as squeaks. :rolls:Madmac
ParticipantRe: Dealing With “Call Backs”
Thats it squadman, it would never be worth loosing a customer you’ve had for a decade or whatever just to prove a point.. one has to be pragmatic, even if it sometimes means taking a financial mini hit.
What i find is if i’ve had a real good earning week, i’m in a good mood & feeling generous, then i dont mind popping back to a couple of (local) callbacks ( & your blocked again after pump change is a classic) and maybe doing them for nothing just for brownie points, the goodwill this can generate sometimes pays for itself 😉
HOWEVER.. These last few months have seen far too many weeks where barely break even was on the books by Friday.. so that call on Sunday just as you’re leaving for church 😉 bitching about how their Servis aint draining again & how they hope this isnt going to cost them, cos they’ve just paid for the ‘same’ fault, blah, blah might not be dealt with, with my usual angelic speaking voice. 👿

He would’nt be the first one to forget that small detail..ahem.. 😳 Worth trying a mini blow torch on fan & WD40 technique.. suprising how often that actually works 😉

ParticipantRe: Dealing With “Call Backs”
Yep, its a thing i’ve always found difficult too, a little old lady (often the biggest pains :rolls: ) usually gets off without charge. Someone with a fancy house & a drive full of German cars does not get to take the p*ss so easily.
If we’re playing fair then any fault that is nothing to do with the repair we’ve been paid for must surely be charged for at the same rate..in theory.. In practice i tend to knock a bit off just to keep the peace, but tell them that i hope they realise they’re getting a good deal.. sometimes theyre grateful.. sometimes not. I’ve always said this job would be brilliant if it did’nt involve the general public :rolls:

ParticipantRe: Zanussi module problem?
Is that the front mounted module in a grey plastic split housing?? if so, yep, interlock shorting often pops the board, solenoid interlocks on Zans seem pretty suspect generally.

ParticipantRe: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?
Beginning to notice some customers resorting to underhand methods to save money in these tight economic times.. much more prats cancelling jobs at the last min having found someone to do it cheaper etc..
Woman phones me lunchtime yesterday with a plea to fix her cold Creda fan oven ASAP as she uses it every day blah, blah, told her to calm herself, prob just needs an element, will get to her late afternoon.
Fast forward to 5pm, i’m several miles into the 16 mile journey to this job & the phone rings, its her hubby, sounding pleased as punch with himself, “can we cancel your call mate, managed to get the element off myself, that will save you a trip” pulled to side of road with my blood beginning to boil & explained that i was practically half way there.
“oh well, stay there and i’ll drive up & buy the element off you, at least then youre paying your Diesel” I’m beginning to loose it now but explained as calmly as i could that i was’nt into roadside trading, i have busted my b*lls doing this job at short notice & really, this is breach of a verbal contract.
He was having none of it though, and ended the conversation with what sounded like “f*ckin sue me then” but the mobile signal wasnt great.
I was so furious, i continued towards their house fully intending to get my callout from this basta*rd if it was the last thing i did, but ended up pulling in, thinking about how it might get out of hand & in the end just headed back home. Still makes me mad thinking about it now, but i dont suppose its worth persuing.
God, sometimes i fekkin HATE the general pubic with a passion 👿 👿

ParticipantRe: Guess when and who?
Well Martin, if we’re talking about our trade then i do often wonder if there is much of a future for the big ‘bricks & mortar’ outfits like Currys & Comet, people often use the places like a library, noting what model they like the feel of & then trying to get it at a better price online.
It aint cricket to be sure but these stores had no qualms driving thousands of indy small retailers to the wall over the last few decades.. so let ’em take it IMO 👿

ParticipantRe: Bearing Shell Removal Tool – Now Available
Oh well, if the welded tub becomes standard fit across the board as seems likely we dont need to worry anymore.. seen yet another zanussi sealed drum at the end of its life this week.
A well used machine it must be said, but still just 3 yrs old, bearing rumble well established, skip fodder within the month i would say :rolls:
Its just not right is it 🙁Madmac
ParticipantRe: Yell.Com
I find it interesting that most of you recon Yell online is a waste of money, i hav’nt ever tried it but was of the opinion i would probably have to have a presence there eventually as surely its gonna be the way forward.. glad i did’nt bother 😉
I think there’s probably life left in the good old fashioned paper book yet, & TBH if i’m looking for a local service of any description, i dont even consider t’interweb.. just grab the local rag or yellows if i cant get a reccomendation from a friend, & i guess thats how lots of peeps think.
The ONE thing i wish would happen is (ironically) that they would fire all their bloody reps & let us book the Yellow pages online, that would save them a shed load in wages & save me from the dreaded yearly visit from one of forked tongue devils 👿 :rolls:

ParticipantRe: How low can they go?
Does that mean i can put my callout up a fiver without my punters moaning like hell? WOOHOO!! Last time i tried it i (years ago) i thought i was gonna get lynched by some 😯 :rolls:
