ParticipantRe: WASH-VAC SITE 24/08/05
Mike,
You must surely be the last one to use it then because it is no more 🙁
….and even taking into account of the weekend between you ordering the parts you needed (last friday) and when they actually arrived (today) I guess their ‘next day delivery’ ended as well ❓ 🙁

Yes the only way, a new switch costs less than £15 I believe 🙂
startn wrote:If the switch proves OK and we are looking at a problem with the module
Either that or the connections to it as I said before!
startn wrote: is it still an economical repair, or should I be looking at a new machine from a better manufacturer?
You be the judge on that based on your findings. Beyond that of course there is the option of getting one of our local recommended repairers in to sort it for you by clicking on this link:Repairs@
Best of luck whatever the outcome, I’ve done my bit…Cheers!

ParticipantRe: wma 33 door seal, soap damage!!
The UKW meeting next month will no doubt enlighten many of us regarding these problems we encounter with door seals and the like 😉
Meanwhile, you may have noticed that Hoover/Candy machines (produced since 2003) do not suffer nearly as bad? That is due partly to the fact that they now fit door gaskets which incorporate an ‘antimildew chemical component’ within the rubber compound 😯
No doubt this magic formulae will be incorporated in all makes in the very near future 😆
Until that halcyon day arrives, keep replacing those door seals and advise your customers against liquid detergents, wipe the door seal after each wash and to leave the porthole door ajar whilst not in use :lesson:

Too late…all gone 🙁

ParticipantRe: moms freezer
A replacement Relay is well worth obtaining as it may be that it either died of old age or (if it has a water tray on top of the compressor) water could have leaked down onto it and caused it to expire ❓

ParticipantRe: Hoover AAA 14001 program fails with E3
OK having checked the model for you, I suspect it is either the Pressure Switch (Part No: 28375042) sticking in the “Full Tub” position or its connection to the Control Module or the Control Module itself at fault. Based on the info you have given so far and assuming the pump is working correctly and that the programme allows the pump to work for 3 minutes before you get the E3 error warning ❓

This is why I asked you for your machines 8 digit product code number 😉

ParticipantRe: Hoover AAA 14001 program fails with E3
I would think it was associated with a faulty Pressure switch?
Just 2 questions for you: I trust there is no washing in the drum? and can you give us the 8 digit number on the back panel beginning with 3???????
Thanks

ParticipantRe: Ariston Fridge/Freezer
A 24 or 48 hour total defrost may be the first thing to consider?
Sounds like the defrost heater inside the frige is not working, drain channel blocked etc etc.
Defrost first then report back if you are still having problems 🙂

Possibly the best solution, but first, give us the model number(s) and we can frighten you with the cost of a replacement Circulation Pump 😕

ParticipantRe: Fagor F-9400 Washing Machine
Mo,
I reckon the machine is somewhat older than stated. It would be unwise to continue using this machine or pay for repairs to it. Time for a new machine and argue amongst yourselves as to who pays for it!! 😕

A very astute synopsis if I may say so nerdette. 🙂
Whilst I agree whole-heartedly with all your comments I must take some issue on the highlighted passage regarding product reliability. In as much as (quote) “some people” do not take that into consideration at all until the cheap product they have recently purchased, fails. Then they question its reliability factor based (in many cases) on seemingly respectable leading brand names.
20 years is a long time based on changing fashions and habits but NOT in terms of product reliability. It is a well known fact that (for example) washing machines produced before 1995 had that factor ‘built-in’ and many such products are working quite happily today with the potential of another 10 years to go!
However the manufacturers were among the first to realise this and sought to downgrade their products in order to bolster continuing sales. The end result is (for the most part at least) a product that ‘does what it says on the tin’ but ends up on the scrap heap in under 6 years. Many more end up there much much earlier. 🙁
So, the future is a fickle as public trends dictate, for the moment at least, but soon enough, those that have purchased these heaps of junk will vote with their feet and demand better value for money based on reliability and reliability means great longevity 😉
