Re: Zanussi Aqusave DES959 Error Code AL5

AL5 as you have discovered relates to “Fill time-out” 🙁

Usually associated with either a faulty fill matrix, flood safety system activated, blocked inlet filters, insufficient water pressure, central filter clogged etc etc.

Those are the likely things to check and I would recommend you call in an expert before getting yourself into trouble on this one. We may have someone that covers your area and you can contact directly for advice. (See link below)

Faulty door interlock, door handle mechanism broken or push button on/off switch at fault the 3 main suspects here?

    Rupert,

Sorry my friend but no chance on the manual I’m afraid, even we in the trade are denied that luxury 🙁

We have to rely on our past experiences with earlier models in order to get by.

One day though it is hoped that Hotpoint will see the light and at least allow the trade in general such information.

Meanwhile if you have a problem with your machine I’m sure someone here on this website could help 😀

    Phil,

All pretty normal activity going on with your machine.

Taking cold rather than hot is very normal and the odd sounds you hear during the wash is the wash pump recycling the water.

As to its age? Take a look at the rear panel and the first 8 digits beginning with 3 are the model code and the next 4 digits shown after that are the year and the week number in that year it was made 😉

E40 usually means the door is not locking so therefore a new Door Interlock (Part No: 1249675123- cost about £25) may be needed I expect.

Check the door striker carefully also in case it is not engaging and that the door seal is even and seating correctly against the glass.

Ah! That’s where we cannot help for certain legal liability reasons 😉
See the link below on that:

However, DO ENSURE THE MACHINE IS FULLY ISOLATED FROM THE POWER SUPPLY (WHERE NECESSARY – AND IF AT ALL POSSIBLE REMOVE THE FUSE :zap:

….one additional tip…..a spray can of WD40 may help in getting the old unit out

Re: How To Spot The Engineer

Easy to spot……several cuts and grazes on the hands. Even without a toolbox in hand, walks slightly bow legged with a stoop. The toe-caps on his shoes are worn and scuffed, kneecaps on jeans are likewise cut and worn.

Bald or balding due to habitual head scratching, wears sweatshirts mostly and is never seen wearing a tie, even socially. Always found propped up against the local pubs bar rail just after 6pm sipping the froth off a pint of lager whilst rolling a fag. 8)

Never throws away junk mail and doormat flyers from Comet or Currys without first checking the prices of the latest range of washing machines. But cringes though every time someone asks him.. “what machine would YOU buy?”

Heart skips a beat every time the phone rings, loves opening parcel deliveries of spare parts just moments after the DHL delivery driver says….”sign here mate!”….in the fervent hope it contains the vital part needed to get him out of trouble on a job. 😆

Lies in bed at night with worry and desperately hoping the Timer he has to fit the next day will cure the fault? Hates it when it’s half term and all the little sh*ts are playing with his toolbox or constantly asking him….”what are you doing?…and…”are you mending my mummy’s machine?” 🙄

Always fails to spot it, but steps back into cat food every time, or trips over the dogs water bowl. Hates cobwebs but loves finding dead mice across the mains terminal block. Never listens to the customer about the clues over the machines fault symptoms but always hears her ask “would you like a cup of tea?” 😀

Charges full whack on the mucky jobs in scruffy houses, but always gives more time, greater attention AND a discount on work done in the home of a very attractive lady customer. He never can fathom why customers answer the door the moment he rings the doorbell on sunny dry days but takes them forever to let him in when it’s p****ng down 🙁

Swears like a trooper and full of road rage when driving between calls. Always backs into a customers driveway for a quick getaway, never has time for transport cafes but tanks up and grabs a bite to eat at the Esso Shop instead.

Finally, a couple of years back a guy was a contestant on Anne Robinsons “The Weakest Link”. During the time he was on the show, he admitted to Anne that he repaired washing machines for a living. When she said to him…” he didn’t look like a plumber but gave ‘drippy’ answers!” He replied to her curtly “No, that’s true Anne but my fuses are intact and I’m not flushed out yet!” :rotfl:

New fan unit (Part No: 481936178208) will set you back around £150 🙁
