That reminds me, I had one where no water was flowing through the Blue Chrome Stopcock to her washing machine even at full blast. When I shone a torch inside I could make out what looked like a blue ‘J Cloth’. I turned off the mains supply, and removed a whole J Cloth from the 15mm copper pipe 😯
Turns out she had a guy in to service her water softener a month or two before, he replaced the ‘by-pass valve’ but in doing so, stuffed this J cloth up the pipe with a bit hanging out whilst he went to his van. Unfortunately as he was doing that the lady used the loo and when she flushed the cistern, the J cloth was sucked up the pipe!!!!!
He admitted to her of his problem but reassured her after he had fixed the softener by saying…” that as a J cloth was made of paper it would simply disintigrate in time in the water tank and be no problem!” :rotfl:

Could you add this picky to the “Photo Gallery” (The funnier side)

JennyV wrote: Do you do lots of handwashing, Greg? 😉
I take your point Jenny and one goes by the wash label every time when purchasing these things. Unfortunately the ‘non slip’ backing of these mats are a problem (not in washing them) when likely to come into contact with hot, dry surfaces such as the tumble dryer drum.
Therefore whilst I agree the labelling is correct in stating “Machine washable”, no way should that apply to Tumble drying, and should read “DO NOT TUMBLE DRY!” instead.

Bill,
Usually any faults are indicated by the number of ‘flashes’ the indicator light gives. For example if the pump were blocked the light would flash 5 times rapidly then pause and flash 5 times again….Count the flashes 😉

Surely you have checked the pump? (Behind the trap door bottom R/Hand side at the front!!!!)

It seems like you will need to get an engineer in to check the machines insulation. Possibly something has got caught in the element and shorted it out (hairgrip, silverfoil, collar stiffener etc).
This model is not prone to problems like this otherwise, unless it is being used in a damp garage or garden shed of course 😉

Steve,
If when you set it to a spin cycle and you cannot hear the pump running, then it almost certainly has a blocked or jammed pump impellor. If the pump runs OK but no water drains from the drum, then the likelyhood is that a coin or something is blocking the sump hose where it joins the narrow pump body.
A closer look at the pump and sump hose may be your next move 😉
:plug: DO PULL THAT PLUG OUT FIRST THOUGH :lesson: :zap:

It’s the Relay (Part No: 1701624) that is at fault.

JennyV wrote: But this time when I opened the door the edge seemed to be stuck inside the drum.
Ooooops! that’s what did in the belts in for you JennyV on this machine (twice now!) Also those paper tissue things you can buy for tumble dryers (can’t remember what they’re called 😕 ) are magic for jamming the drums and burning the belt out. You can tell the drum has jammed because the motor pulley burns through the belt in just one small charcoaled spot!!!!
Paper hankies, trainer shoe laces, wired bra’s and girls’ hair ‘scrunchies’ are brilliantly problematical in any modern dryer in the way they construct the front drum support housing. The majority of dryers on todays market have huge doors and big loading drum appatures. That leaves little or no room to design a fully enclosed drum, instead they fit shallow fronted drums that are prone to ‘foreign bodies’ jamming them in this way.
It’s really just an evil plot to keep us service people in business fixing them for you :rotfl:

Thanks for that dpm. I for one (and I suspect many others) did not know that 😳
What puzzles me is why they produced them in the first place? I would guess therefore that they are more durable than say the 161460 brushes and may be more reactive at lower speeds by the digital circuit boards that control them?
I believe the later FHP made motor that replaced it uses a more conventional carbon brush unit. And now Hotpoint are wrestling with Bosch/FHP and Ceset motors for all sorts of other reasons best known to them 😕

I’ve had a couple of duff Bosch pumps lately where the Hanning rotor doesn’t have a direct coupling with its impellor and jams up 😕 Brand new pumps straight out of the box, I wasn’t too pleased…. 👿
… Replaced with Askoll to get me out of trouble.

ParticipantRe: Bosch Dryer WTA3003GB/17 Drive Belt broken
JennyV,
I’ve never come across a dryer so new to have belt troubles like this? And for having 2 machines with the same fault suggests just 2 lines of thought here. 1). That you are seriously overloading the machine (the drum should only be 2 thirds full – maximum) or 2). You have hit upon a faulty batch of dryers from Bosch (in which case do not attempt any repairs, but get onto Bosch to sort it !)

ParticipantRe: Ariston Margherita AVI247C gets stuck on rinse mode
Make sure the end of the grey corrugated drain hose is well above the maximum water level of your machine. Otherwise the fault may be caused by the rinse water simply syphoning out?
