Can you rotate the pump impellor behind the filter then? It should turn quite freely!

Blimey, they didn’t last long! Whilst they advertised on UKW, many of us got their glossy ‘flyer’ in the post…..and now they’ve dissappeared into the mists of the Peak District eh?

That will work fine Pete provided you do not use programmes above 60 degrees as that fills first on the hot side. You would have to stick with 40 degree cycles for it to work.

Clive,
Brilliant observation and I think you’ve sussed it for us thanks
99.99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time we all are guilty of sliding the brushes into place BEFORE releasing the holding tab for obvious reasons. But by using your method of releasing them first to ‘test’ if the copper lead is firmly attached before resetting the tabs for ease of installation (if preferred) then we may well avoid those duff brushes that burn out I guess?

I used to strip those down and respray the cabinets and sold about 10 fully ‘reconned’. The door handle on my workshop door was one of the chrome pump operating levers :rotfl:
Whilst rummaging in the bottom of my toolbox for that Hotpoint ‘bent spanner’ (I sent Ken a photo π ) I also have a drive cube ‘reamer tool’ still in its cardboard box and wrapped in waxed paper 8)
Try this link for yet another ‘sentimental journey’….Remember the Bendix A, B and D series auto’s that we bolted to the floor with 5 inch rag bolts????

Use their ‘search’ for Bendix and others

Oh! Wash your mouth out with soapy water :lesson:
In this 21’st century world of political correctness we are all classed as Repair Persons (Except Penguin45 who is a Sphenisciformes and revels in water leaks for obvious reasons).
There are very few female repair persons these days however, simply because that gender were the first to realise the job was rubbish and the pay even worse :rotfl:

Simon46 wrote:How is everyone finding the brownish coloured ones?
I think Simon is referring to the 1600474 that are coming in that shade of plastic lately. ‘Tis true that in the last 12 months I have had half a dozen recalls with these brushes burning out prematurely. I think I will consider Penguins advice and start fitting the 161460 instead as there seems no logic as to why these brushes fail so badly.
I have found many 1600474’s are noisy and need careful ‘bedding in’ at low speed before attempting a full spin test?
What is the difference between laminated and none anyway unless its the hardness if the carbon used :con:

emmajayne,
Sorry to hear of the problems with your washer dryer. Sadly we cannot help much because Hotpoint don’t even give us much information on this new product range machine π
Certainly your dryer should not complete the cycle with the wash being very hot. Washer Dryers by their very nature do take hours to complete a full wash and tumble dry cycle though but I would contact Hotpoint Customer Service again and insist they sort it for you as something must be wrong πΏ

Indeed so, but you didn’t answer all my questions…….Does it pump?
If not you may like to check the pump/drain filter π

This is to ensure the refrigerant settles in transit, especially if it has been transported other than in the upright position. 12 hours is a more acceptable period though π

Wow! is this some kind of in depth research project of some kind going on here? Compiling a thesis for a Uni degree or diploma are we?
Icemaiden21 wrote:I wondered if anyone has experience of similar technology step changes in the market. I am thinking in particular of the increase in availability of and decrease in price of frost-free fridge freezers. Can anyone shed light on how this happened?
Purely supply v’s demand has created this situation, consumers have latched on to the advantages of frost free and the market simply took off. The same is happening in the Brown Goods industry with the advent of Plasma and LCD technology.

If that is his problem then even if he manages to find a Hotpoint Empress, he will have a hell of a time getting the wringer out of the front cupboard and locating it in the socket!! :rotfl:

The Countess would be a much more sensible option, Daves got one (it must look like Steptoe’s yard at the back of his place with all the stuff he hangs on to? π ) I have a spare Countess pump and sump hose (in stock) …….that would be his best bet I expect! :lol2:

P.S. If you haven’t visited this thread then you should. Those were the days eh?, when men were men, washing machines needed service engineers like myself, RS and iadom….willing and able and all for just a 17/6d call-out charge…! http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … c&start=30
