Good point Keith. I normally carry Bosch mains suppressors. I’ll let you know.

    Cheers

These bearings only lasted 3 years.

Re: Diplo ADP8221 D/W fill problem

Dave in W’goods Spares just pointed out to me the ADP8221 does not have a module – it has a timer and switch bank.

I did not strip out the control panel due to shortage of time (you don’t want to know how long I spent on this machine…) so I can’t comment, except to say it has the five LEDs and single button as on the PCB models…

So if not a triac, blown timer??

Thanks for the feedback. Yes I actually found this machine a real pleasure to work on, as the standard of engineering is first rate. I wish all appliances were built like this! I really like the integral-with-the-tub motor. If I could afford it, I would buy one of these!

Yes you are absolutely right, and I meant to post up the “final” solution but
    forgot. Thanks for the post.

As you say, the drum is airtight with only that small pipe on the top to release air as the water comes in. If it is blocked, water splutters all out the soap drawer and over the floor.

Re: E-Spares Illegal, Dangerous and Outrageous Claims

I guess we’re caught between manufacturers charging silly callout amounts, and getting the trade a bad name thereby (for being “too expensive”), and eSpares offering trips to Paris….

I was thinking of sending eSpares a testimonial:
“Thanks to you my poor mother-in-law was found dead on the floor from electrocution whilst her house burned down around her, because you people persuaded her she was capable of repairing her Ariston washer-drier…please cease and desist before you kill off any more of the general public…..I have written to the Sun newspaper………….etc”

only kidding. But I had one customer nearly killed herself trying to reset a dryer TOC (no, of course she never thought to unplug it!)

There is a point here, that it is now illegal to rewire or fit new sockets in your own house – you need a “Part P” qualified electrician. We could see similar legislation in the future affecting our trade. What would eSpares do then?

    Thanks Martin

I’m very familiar with cleaning out the Bosch equivalent of this, also old Zanussis etc. Is this a blockage problem from buildup of muck, or will I need a new part? Give me your best guess.

(I trust the left side panel comes off, as with Bosch/Neff??)

    But why no error codes?
Is this sympton a low-insulation-resistance thing?

Re: Ariston LI62UK heating fault error code

    Thanks.
I’ll post our findings after the visit!

It seems all we get at present is integrated D/Ws and Bosch carbon brushes! What happened to the good old days of door boots, leaky pumps and Hpt/Hoover brushes??!!

We did have a Miele D/W the other day – Pcb gone, new PCB was around 520 quid! What planet do Miele live on?

Re: Ariston LI62UK heating fault error code

If its the PCB, is it likely to be repairable – like the older Bosch PCBs and some others, where the heater relay pin has gone o/c on the board?

Can anyone help with this – mainly on which fault codes apply and how to read them??

    Any Merloni folk out there?

    Much appreciated 😀

Thanks Tony – got the board from EMW (with pre-programmed Eeprom) and machine now working fine. Happy customer.

What would we do without guys like EMW and QER ???

Re: Bosch Washer WFP3201 Error 005

Customer reported an error code of “10” previously. Had someone else out (I was on holiday) and they changed the pump (??) – then found a blowout on the rear (motor control) PCB (it’s an old machine, they are mounted up in the top if you remember) and patched it up. Worked for a while.

Yesterday I found a dry joint in their repair of the board, and I changed the carbons anyway as they were three quarters worn.

Customer wants me to get them a new PCB (I think the old one is beyond repair now) Hopefully that will sort it. (£160 plus VAT RP from BSH!!) Yes I told them it would be expensive!

    (What is an “E10”?)

Thanks Tony – I’ll be in touch

I take it the board on the front panel is never at fault, and we are talking about the main board in bottom right rear corner?? (Dumb question probably!) 😯

    Re: Diplo 8242 mysteriously stopping

Update – I fitted a spare (used) board. All seemed OK, then the customer called me, and said it now had a “different fault” – washing continuously I think. However they have now gone on holiday for a few weeks. …

Changing the board seemed to remedy the fault. I like the idea of a board repair at QER or EMW.

    To be continued….
