ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WMA
It’s a very short heater so should probably be OK without support for the hot end.

How disappointing, I thought this would be about some amazing advance in horticulture……

ParticipantRe: APart4U
Thanks for the link but I just followed it and it says:
Out of Stock. More expected 08/12/2010.
I might risk trying CDA though. CDA are absolutely hopeless at sending the right part though and they sometimes send stuff when I didn’t even place an order for anything. :rolls:Phidom

Ah yes but remember Martin, when global warming gets going properly the gulfstream will change course and we will get the weather most other places at our latitude get, e.g. Siberia. 😉

Sorry, it’s not a Diplomat, it’s a Siltal oven and the part I need is the base element, part No. 2.12EFS004001. I complained to Apart4U and they have chosen to cancel my order so I have to start again from scratch. 😡

I was looking for a shovel this morning to dig the van out and go to Saturdays jobs, which I cancelled as the A98 was closed by the Police. I tried the workshop, nothing; the garage, personal door frozen to its frame; the new shed, padlock frozen; then finally trudged down the back lawn to the garden shed where I got the door open and found a spade. On the lawn the snow was almost up to the top of my wellies and we have had another 2″ since then. It took an hour to clear the windows of the van and get it to the road.

Just thought I’d say how pleased I’ve been with Affresh. Started keeping it on the van as trade price through UKW is £5.58. Tend to sell it to customers at £5 per tablet or £9.95 for the pack.
Perhaps you should increase that price a bit, my trade price from Connect is £10.17 Inc. VAT.

Another deaf customer! It must have sounded like tractor for months before they finally called you in to sort it.

ParticipantRe: Door interlock testing out of machine PTC versions
On the later Hotpoint WM models without the motor pecker device the interlock nearly always damages the PCB when it fails so just swapping the interlock is misleading as the machine will still be dead. You need to also check the board, which is easily repaired.

ParticipantRe: Changing door seal on Servis M9309 washer dryer
Ah, looks like the Connect Mediator diagrams I looked at for the M9309 are for the wrong model, that’s why I thought it was an easy one without a top air vent and bottom drain hose bit. Sorry about that.

ParticipantRe: Kiln Controller
I went back yesterday to refit the controller and this time it was reading 4 degrees when cold. The kiln is outside in a small shed so this could well have been the actual temperature. I really just wanted confirmation / denial that thermocouples either give the correct output voltage for a given temperature or they fail completely.

Yes, low resistance is more of a worry on the armature as it could mean shorted turns. There is a rare type of motor fault though where it spins fine without the belt but lacks the torque to turn the drum. Something to do with eddy currents apparently. I know it’s a bind but if you don’t have the correct Electrolux group generic motor to try as a substitute for testing purposes you can often jury rig a motor from a different make using a set of leads with male spade one end and female spade the other. Once you have made up such a set of wires they will come in handy for similar elimination checks in the future.

ParticipantRe: masterpart deliveries on go slow
Has anyone checked their Masterpart back-orders lately? I just did and apparently I’ve had a HP09103 tumble dryer belt on back-order for over a year. :rolls:

ParticipantRe: Changing door seal on Servis M9309 washer dryer
No, the front does not come off. This is one of the easier Servis ones. With power off, the lid off and the retaining wire removed from the front edge of the seal you can peel the seal away from the cabinet front then get an assistant to hold the drum as far back as it will go to give you more room to work at the front. The seal is secured by a screwed clamp band which is removed and the old seal peeled away. We all have different techniques for manipulating the new seal into place on the drum front so it will probably mean a bit of trial and error. I tend to start by securing a section of seal on the left hand side and work my way round then have a look all round the inside edge of the seal to make sure it’s on properly before fitting the clamp band. You then secure the outer edge to the cabinet in the same way and refit the sprung loaded clamp wire.
