Then you get the customer who sees you with the multimeter taking readings and says “But you will need it switched on at the wall for that won’t you?” click :plug:

Have you printed out the error codes list as given elsewhere in this forum?

ParticipantRe: HOOVER WASHING MACHINE
Not done a Hoover but I repaired a Servis module with the same fault. I traced the wiring from the pump to a small triac which I could buy cheaply.

If you only need an odd item it is worth shopping around. I wanted a grey door handle for a Hotpoint WF541 the other day. Connect wanted £7.50 + VAT + delivery whereas there is one on Ebay for £12.50 which works out cheaper because there’s no VAT and postage is only £1.40.

ParticipantRe: new washers
I see the LG machines are a lot cheaper than they used to be. Panasonic have a good reputation for their other products but I’m not sure about these Chinese built washing machines they are now flogging.

ParticipantRe: shaft for zt1012
Some of the Electrolux group machines use a 6304 front bearing instead of a 6205. The 6304 has a smaller inside diameter so the shaft is thinner. You can fit the normal 6205 / 6204 bearing kit with the 50239964005 spider.

I’ve never had to do one of those, just as well by the sound of it. :rolls:

ParticipantRe: The ultimate troubleshooting tool!
They call it a repairs tool but don’t actually tell you how to do repairs. In a way it could make life more difficult for us if the customer thinks he / she already knows what the fault is but just wants the parts fitted. If it tells them the brushes are worn they are likely to order a set online before calling us in to fit them. If we then find a new motor is needed they will have to pay for brushes and the motor!

Yes, I disconnected the dryer element on one on Friday then watched it complete a whole wash with no problems. The tenant who rents the furnished flat never uses the dryer anyway.

Thanks Seamy. Did you have to use something to keep the valve open? There seems to be a spring that keeps it closed but 3 clothes pegs will serve to hold the plunger out.

Although, I suppose you could say that a lot of the present crop are a bit of a wind up.
Think I heard something about the Severn barrage being shelved again too.

I found a wiring diagram on the Connect site so i can perhaps figure it out from that.

ParticipantRe: Connect changed courier?
I didn’t think anyone could actually be worse than DHL 😯 . I sometimes have to wait a week for parcels from Connect. Sometimes it’s just someone in a car rather than a DHL van.
