    sequence of 7 red flashes, followed by 1 red flash (I believe an E71 error code?)

    If you mean 1green flash then yes is is fc71 NTC flt . It should read about 6 K at 20 deg
    It’s mounted in the air duct at bottom after r/h side is removed.

    why do you want to redesign the machine ?It is only a cold fill but the water is heated during the wash

    All the results you have just posted are correct ,the two stats on the heater are limit stats and go open circuit at a fixed temp

    you have not said but have you done an insulation test?
    the fan element can be duff.

    Dont think this is going to help but—

    The table below describes the various error codes:
    ERROR CODE DESCRIPTION OF THE CAUSE
    F02 Door lock system
    (featured only on pyrolytic ovens).
    F03 EEPROM Memory on Control Unit.
    F04 Oven sensor temperature range exceeded
    (condition occurs for more than 5 seconds).
    F05 Temperature safety limit exceeded
    > 350°C on normal ovens.
    > 530°C on pyrolytic ovens.
    (condition occurs for more than 10 seconds).
    F08 Communication interruption between Control unit and
    power board.
    F09 Software compatibility between Control unit and power
    board.
    F10 Faulty triac (on power board)

    a poor/bad joint will create heat which in turn makes the joint worse so it gets even hotter then you end up with what you had.

    if you mean TDC32 then the relay behind the control panel is the usual suspect for this type of fault.

    I’ve had them work with a magnet out of m/c and then work for a short time once replaced, think you use a stronger magnet to test with.90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} certain it will be your problem.

    It started with a bad joint and it will continue unless you replace the block

    Yes just fit as reverse of removal but make sure the door is fully down before replacing screw
