You need to check the fan is working in the freezer to see if this is the problem.

It would not be hygienic as Han Solo’s bum is inside the fridge.

I would say the drain is iced up.
After six years I would say you also need to replace the rear panel as the polystyrene insulation starts to absorb water and does not insulate correctly.

It is best left to an engineer to fit as it means disturbing the thermostat housing.
If you break the thermostat then you will end up with more problems.

It is a small button sized thermal cut out on the back of the oven.
Not an expensive part.

It pays to book early, If something crops up you can always cancel the booking.
I have never had to cancel but the option is there if an emergency cropped up.
It is better than not being able to get a room and be disappointed.

Just in case you need a second opinion as Brian said it will need a new Compressor.
Not a DIY or cheap job.

ParticipantRe: John Lewis JLAFFS 2009 Fridge Freezer
As it is only 13 Days out of warranty I would go into your local John Lewis and ask if they will look at it sympathetically and cover a repair.
John Lewis aftercare are excellent and you may be lucky and get a free of charge repair.
It is a Daewoo and the fault is most likely the freezer fan motor faulty.
It is a small 13.5 volt fan motor and this model is rare to have any faults other than the fan motor.
When the new fan is fitted it may not start until the temperature drops on the evaporator normally 10 to 15 minutes.
You also need to press and hold the light switch for 30 seconds to check the fan is running when you have the freezer door open.
You have to dismantle and remove the Icemaker and rear panel inside the freezer to get to the fan motor so best left to an engineer to replace it.

ParticipantRe: Miele kfn 12823 FRIDGE not working but freezer fine – fa
Hi from Bob
The drain for the freezer is behind the rear panel and shoul clear when it has fully defrosted.
If when it has fully defrosted the fault is the same then it may be the fridge sensor.
If the fridge cooled down to 5 degrees and then rises again it could be the fridge evaporator sensor.
The fridge evaporator sensor is the most common problem.
If you order a sensor kit it comes with the instructions and if you have basic DIY skills is not difficult to fit.
The sensors are not cheap so it may pay to get an engineer to check this is the fault.

ParticipantRe: Miele kfn 12823 FRIDGE not working but freezer fine – fa
Make sure it is fully defrosted as it will be iced up behind the rear panel.
The fan may not work until the temperature drops in the fridge.
if it works ok when it has been defrosted and the problem returns in 2 to 4 weeks then you will have a problem with the freezer evaporator sensor or the drain for the freezer is blocked.

ParticipantRe: Miele kfn 12823 FRIDGE not working but freezer fine – fa
Try feeling the compressor at the back to see if it is hot.
If it is hot pull out the freezer baskets to see if there is an ice / frost build up in the freezer as it may not have defrosted itself, if it is iced up then get someone to look after the food and turn it off for 48 hours with the doors open to fully defrost it.
If it is not iced up then it has lost some of the refrigerant or the compressor is not pumping correctly.
If the compressor is cold or only slightly warm then it will be the fridge evaporator sensor faulty and you will need the sensor repair kit this comes with instructions how to fit.

If the Compressor only runs for 5 to 10 seconds then it is cutting out on the thermal cut out.
It will need a new compressor, not a DIY repair and not a cheap repair.

Send a PM to R600a Brian he will be able to supply the parts. ( FFR services )
The heater and sensors come complete with the fridge evaporator this is the cheapest way to purchase them.
You remove the heater and sensor and thermal cut out from the evaporator and fit them to your old evaporator this saves regasing the fridge freezer.
Check to see if the heater has failed first as you may only require a rear panel complete with fan motor.

If you feel confident to repair it then it is your decision.
If you damage the evaporator or pipe work then it will need regasing and is not a DIY repair.
Before you carry out any work to take it apart in the fridge compartment it has to be fully defrosted or you can damage the evaporator behind the rear panel

ParticipantRe: Samsung RS21FCSV – fridge not cooling
It depends on the fault.
It may be just the rear panel in the fridge or a defrost heater fault.
If you get someone to look after your food.
Turn the fridge freezer off at the mains and allow it to defrost for 48 hours with the doors open.
If it takes a couple of weeks for the fault to return it will be the defrost heater at fault.
It is better to buy a service kit for the heater this comes with the sensor and cut out as well.
You may also have to replace the rear panel at the same time as it is eight years old.
If it takes a couple of months for the fault to return then it is most likely just the rear panel you will need to replace.
Both jobs you are better off getting an engineer to repair.
