    Re: Cricket 2010

What a finish, stopped on route to listen to the last 2 overs.
P{refer Aggers and Boycott on radio 4 ,Aggers has the art of winding Geoffrey up so he gets on his high horse.
never though that anyone would come close to Jonners for easy listening but Aggers is getting pretty good.

If the snow was a regular occurence then studded tyres would be a must,I have relatives in Switzerland and they have to fit them by law sometime in November.

Take the details off the relay which seems like it supplies the power to the compressor and google it,shouldn’t be a problem if you can change it yourself.

Re: LEC F FREEZER CLICKING ON OFF

Three pins in a triangle when you have removed relay, relays are often burned or fall to bits and then it will be obvious but you need to check the windings, one is the run winding one is the start winding the other pin is common to both, measure the readings from the top pin to each of the side pins, add those together and then measure across the bottom two, that reading should match the total of the other two.Readings depend on the size of the motor but should all measure up in the way described whatever their size.
There is a cut out usually in with the relay depending on the age of the appliance.

Sounds like start relay on the compressor, could be a failed winding but you would need to check via the pins on the compressor.

Would likely require replacing the complete board imo, faulty relay on the board is the probable cause if it is compleely dead.

Re: Are Chest Freezers no longer suitable for Garages ?

Freezers will run in garages no problem, condensation may be a fault that ensues but not always the case.
The problem with the oil is not so much the viscosity but that if a compressor doesn’t run and remains cold for a while(wouldn’t be the case with freezers, unless ambient was -16c or lower)is that refrigerant migrates into the oil, causing compressor problems.
For this reason compressor crankcases on outdoor units supplying walk in fridges or cellar cooling are usually fitted with a crankcase heater to prevent it by keeping the oil at a set temp which is usually run off a thermoatat.

Hi,Was interested in why the question “is it in a cold room”has relevance with a washer.
haven’t heard of that before and if so below what temp will it not operate.

Resistance is way out on the thermistor, not sure of the exact value on that model but would be 15-20kh normally.

Bit of a heavy article to wade through but sheds good light on the inconsistent and unreliable computer/scientifically based predictions.
If it gets to heavy go to the conclusion !

No it’s in a laundry room, not heated but reasonable temp in there.
Is there a known fault with these in a cold ambient and if so what are the parameter temperatures.

yleewolf wrote:Hmmm – I have an Iced Diamond RFA51P also that is defrosting in the garage. Could this cold weather be the cause?

I defrosted it and left it for a couple of days when the problem first arose and it seemed to work ok when turned back on but this didn’t last long and I now have the high temp light on constantly and the freezer is well above decent operating temperature.

I was going to buy a new freezer but if the low ambient temp is the cause of the problem, a new unit is going to suffer the same fate, is it not?

Where do i go from here??

mediteranean is not a bad bet 😉
We don’t normally have sustained cold spells like this, couple or three days you wouldn’t notice.Seperate freezers or don’t rely on it until temps rise to 8c or so.

Re: Hotpoint F/F Model 8595 Fridge broken but Freezer works

Thermistor is at the top, short white or grey lead with a plastic covered bulb on the end, think it plugs in the same terminal as the motorised baffle.
Old ones ice up because the sealant breaks down or ice/air pockets form in the insulation and grop over the years, much like damp spreading in walls.

Re: Neff (K4513X0GB) Integrated fridge broken down, Please H

You need, after unplugging to establish if you have a circuit through the thermostat.
You will need an avo type meter to do this.
Remove cover with the one screw and check that there are circuits through the numbered terminals on the thermostat.
Take one wire off at a time and check from that terminal to the other two,if they don’t both beep with the avo set on buzzer/continuity you have a thermostat fault.
easy to replace and not costly.
