    Re: What would you do?

i am sure most of us have done work for nothing before, i qouted a woman £20 back in the day to install a new washing machine she had purchased.
got there only to find out it was integrated after an hour and a half work i was just about to tell her she owed me more than £20 when she slapped said amount on top of the table and said thanks very much.

i went to a cooker and the whole council flat was wired up wrong, positive and negative were reversed, i made a song and dance about it, the council electrician came out and said i was wrong, i wish i hadnt bothered.

one does the wire and hook the other is for the spring clamp.
you have to check the fixing first.
you can check without taking the machine out just by taking the outer lip off of the cabinet and having a look in.

as you said in the title its a suppressor,
there may be a plate at the back which clips on where you can access it failing that skin you knuckles from the side panel just make sure the plug is out.

Re: Hotpoint WD420 Mains suppressor caught fire

i have had a couple of these where it appeared to me that liquid had been spilled onto the top of the lid and leaked through the corner of the lid through a square hole in the top of the cabinet into the suppressor. the machines were both next to the kitchen sink.
i put some pvc tape over the top .

    Re: Hotpoint Twinny Problem

if the motor is gone you will be able to see the field coil burnt,
if you are lucky it may just be a stuck solenoid.
plug out first obviously if checking,
you can still get motors but probably not new ones.

the only way to really check a door lock is in my opinion to try a new one on.
