Never made a claim in my life. Don’t know if that makes a difference.SteveMine was only £80 with gas cover, as long as I dont use my gas bottle more than 15{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time in my work…… which of course I dont 😈

joeybear wrote:thanks greg but i would like to try and fix the problem myself first as this is not a gas related fault.can you help at all ❓
That just shows that you are not qualified to do this job I am afraid.
The cooling fan is very much a gas related job as its sole purpose on this cooker is not just to cool but to also feed the burners with air on these cookers, fit it the wrong way around or a fan with a faster spin and in both cases you will have an I.D. (immediately dangerous) appliance. This is why you can’t be helped on here and must get it professionally repaired.

ParticipantYou could price up a LPG hob, thats what I would have for sure.

But for that sort of use forget the cheap stuff, none of them will hack the environment it’s in.
K.Quite true 😉
So forgetting the lower end of the market I have found three which are worth looking at. Due to the amount of people this machine is serving I have gone for double ovens of which the main one will be fan operated and the smaller one will be traditional heating. Also all three feature ceramic hobs for easy cleaning. Belling E336, Cannon C50EK and the Zanussi ZCE5200. IMO the Zanussi is probably the better produced machine followed by the Cannon and the Belling.

DonBelling E336 is just a rebadged BEKO so probably cheaper to buy the BEKO version.http://www.mainstreamlogistics.com/cgi- … n=&scid=43
That ones only £259 and even comes with a “thermostatically controlled oven” 😆

ParticipantBe very very careful cleaning the facia on these cookers the graphics seem to come off very easily.

ParticipantI would look at the cooling fan before doing anything else,to check its coming on.
Virtually all the problems I have had like this have been cooling fan related.
wsts
ParticipantNot sure if it is or not but if its a Stoves build diplomat oven they have a microswitch on the internal of the door hinge, sometimes they are gone and sometimes the support they are screwed to needs bending back into position, means removing the right hand side panel.

tomCorrect, if he hasnt done it he hasnt converted your cooker properly, I go to quite a few where it hasnt been done by the installer.

borgie wrote:I have owned a SMEG UK 60MFX1 for 7 years and it’s been great. But now when I turn off the oven the fan (not the big fan assist at the back) but the one at the top of the oven still keeps blowing away and I am forced to turn the power off at the mains to shut the appliance down. Otherwise the oven is functioning normally.
Any idea – parts, install, cost?
Many thanksHow long are you leaving it after you turn off the oven ?, not sure if you know or not but it is meant to stay on after you turn off the oven for 5-10 minutes.

ParticipantSo would I 😀

ParticipantWith stoves they usually use a silver sticker on the frame which you see when you open either the grill or oven door and also a duplicate stuck to the back of the range.
wsts
ParticipantYes it is a common problem, but replacing the taps £60-80 thats just the call out !!!
It doesnt need parts though and replacing the taps would be a waste of time, it doesnt even need taking apart but unfortunately I cannot give you any advice over the net 🙁
I used to do these every week.wsts
ParticipantYou will probably find that the power supply is behind the oven which can be removed by taking the screws out at the front that screw into the cupboard, the fault is the ign generator which has the switch built ito it, it may dry out and stop clicking but if not I would just unplug it and light it manually as a repair would cost nearly as much as a new hob and installation.
