Re: Creda 48149V 41100084 built in oven

Mine came with no instructions; complained to Connect, they sent a replacement, still no instructions!! I took great care to wire it correctly, and checked each wire individually. But, I am not infallable, so if Wilf is right, how can I check this back? I also didn’t use the link wire as I couldn’t see where it would serve any purpose. Could this be my problem? If so, where does it go?
Think I’m going to need that diagram please Goose; but my e’mail is down on my site (er.. page) so I’ve left you an alternative e’mail address in your private message box.
Thanks for everyone’s help so far, but if you see a mushroom cloud filling the southern skies you will know why…… :zap:

It’s a 4 bar ‘solarplus’ type unit. Don’t think it’s dual circuit as the numbers on the knob only go 1-6; no selection for half grill.

    Re: How Busy Are We

Have’nt stopped – working all weekend just to keep up. 8 to 10 jobs a day, bearing jobs at night in the workshop. Been like this since October. Already booked out ’till Wednesday. Not making it up – like digging sand in the Sahara at the moment. Still have a WMA and a wm22 bearing change to do tonight / tomorrow. Writing this while a Zanussi bearing job is on test. Delivering that back tomorrow.
The dilemma is, do I employ someone and lighten my workload, or struggle on and hope it quietens down soon? Very nervous of employing others; horror stories abound; but I also realise I will have no spare time to train them either. I already farm out my fridge, microwave and vacuum repairs to others. But 2 local engineer colleagues of mine have retired or lessened their working week due to illness and so I have picked up most of their customer base as well.
I must stress, I am not complaining – I am happy to be busy! I give a rapid reliable service and I go far beyond what is expected to please my customers. 🙂 So it’s me own bloody fault really!!!
The job centre and colleges round here are hopeless for recruiting, and everyone in this industry seems to be self – employed.
Anyone have a magic formula for finding suitable recruits? 😕
    Help!!!

Have you checked the carbons? Just uneven wear on them can cause fill faults. If the pressure bottle is clear and the rubber hose is clear and not holed, could be pressure switch; but they don’t fail often.
    Hope this helps,
    Steve.

    W.E.E.E directive v’s Indesit?

Well their welded drum qualifies hands down and no mistake, making Indesit the leading company in dealing with this legislation:-

    http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … =0&thold=0

If you read that report again it only refers to waste generated at the Indesit factory and how they dispose / recycle their day to day waste like boxes, paper, manufacturing process waste and off-cuts etc. It does not IMO refer to the machines at ‘end of life’. The agency’s remit was only to advise on how to cut internal waste – because if they were to begin to tackle the real problem of Merloni’s output of cr*p, and the impact it will have on the enviroment it would be a different report altogether and they’d still be there!!
It’s time for the ‘feelgood’ reporting of government agencies was replaced by the truth, as it will surely emerge in the end. ( usually too late). But one thing is for sure, it will nearly always be the bleedin’ obvious. 🙄

    Re: Hotpoint Welded tubs

We’ve seen this here before with the post a few weeks ago about Indesit tubs being welded together now. As I said then, doesn’t this go completely against the WEEE regs that are due soon? Or are Merloni having a last big drive to sell as much cr*p as possible before these laws are brought in?
It’s not just the wanton waste of raw materials but the fuel, water, electricity and enviromental costs involved to transport, dismantle and recycle these machines that all appear to be irrelevant to them; when we could replace 2 bearings and a seal.
How can they make money from this if they further cheapen their already appalling offerings and have to keep repairing or replacing them under warranty? More and more customers are refusing to pay for the extended guarantees offered by the retailers ( especially the sheds). Customers are also being told by the media not to accept multiple repairs on ‘in guarantee’ machines, so more will have to be exchanged.
Warranty work eats into profits; there’s no question. So cheaper, more fallable machines = more warranty work on more machines = more engineers for more machines = more parts required = less profit. Subtract falling extended warranty revenue – it surely doesn’t add up. The parts Merloni fit under warranty still cost them money. And the mountains of scrapped parts…..
Where are the ‘green’ lobby, Greenpeace and ‘Friends of the Earth’? Too busy putting ‘Bad Vehicle Choice’ stickers on Range Rovers while lorries full of ‘Merloni Baloney’ drive past unnoticed, I shouldn’t wonder.
The public should be made aware of this practice; hopefully the WEEE charges they will have to pay every 14 months or so for Merloni machine disposal will change their minds. 👿
We all live in hope…… 🙄

And clear the ‘U’ shaped pipe that links the 2 chamber nozzles. The ‘new’ type syphons are blue, the early ones were black and used to go very brittle and porous for a pastime. DS30 won’t have black syphons. Also take the pressure switch / safety to valve pipes off their nozzles and clear them. Easily overlooked. 😉

    Re: Servis M3101A

Earth leak on the heater can cause a no spin fault – unplug it and try the spin cycle again. 😉 Servis modules sometimes won’t spin if there’s not a sufficiently large enough (or correctly balanced) load in the drum. Only test the spin cycle when drum is loaded to eliminate that possibility. To replace the module, EMW do a good range around £30-35 ish.
    Hope this helps!!

If it’s the small digital module -COD5520/5525 – probably blown track under small connector block. Easy solder job to fix or £20 from EMW. EM13SF series usually broken ceramic resistor or it’s solder joints. (or £20 from EMW).
    Hope this helps.

Re: Hotpoint TDL11P Ser.no. 90101556 Felt bearing probs

Don’t know, lubricated it with silicon spray as usual. Only problem I can see with the modified banjo / bearing unit is the front ‘wired edge’ of the drum rim. This drum currently runs on the felt on it’s rim’s inner face; but the plastic bearings of old used to run on the drum rim’s outer face, therefore won’t the ‘wired edge’ get in the way? Or is the banjo like the old plastic ones fitted to early TL machines with the small bearings with little leaf springs underneath?
Can’t see what it looks like as Connections picture for part no. HPT1702495 shows a Zanussi washcraft 1000 spin inner drum!!! Hmm, interesting conversion, that should keep me busy!!! 😆

Re: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?

One thing that drives me to distraction is customers that repeat the last 2 or 3 words of every sentence you say. They stand, staring at you, clasping their hands tightly and the conversation goes:
    “So, is it all fixed?”
” Oh,yes, I’ve cleaned the filter, now it should pump out properly”
    “Pump out properly, yes”
” The filter needs to be checked about…..”
    ” filter yes, checked”
“….once a month to prevent it blocking completely again”
“Month blocking completely blocked again completely,…..yes”
“If you can keep it clean…”
    “Clean,keep it clean…”
“….you won’t have any more problems like today’s”
“Problems, yes, today’s problems….today…yes….oh, good, yes, good.”

Then they say, “Could you just show me that again, dear?” 😯

Is there an echo in here or is it too much exposure to Debor glue? 😆 😆

    Re: Zanussi W/Dry ZND1271 E20 Fault

Had this very problem a couple of weeks ago – it was a worn pump. Fitted a new one, but 3 days later had the same fault. It seems, according to the Qualtex agent, some Askoll pumps may have been damaged / dropped in transit (especially the ones supplied with no box) and ‘stick’ or lightly jam after constant use (ie:- t/drier). Removed and checked the pump I had fitted, and sure enough, it was jamming in one place; carefully selected a replacement from stock, fitted it, all O.K. Watch out for that. 😉

Re: wg833 does anyone know the spin speed ?

It’s an 800 spin machine. In the past, to be absolutely sure, we used to paint a white spot on the drum pulley and tell the mouthy trainee to sit behind the machine and count the revolutions. 😆 😆 The amazing thing was just how many took it seriously and the unbelievably varying results!!! 😆
